Question about Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools

1 Answer

Carb. Problem? My lawn-boy model 4600 mower only runs at what seems to be idle speed. The throttle control has no affect on it. If I try to mow with it, it bogs down and the speed doesn't increase. Do you think it is a problem with the govenor or something with the carb.?

It could be the linkage from the govenor to the carb, maybe the throttle shutter is stuck. Try WD 40.

How do adjust for Speed stability on Lawn-Boy mower. It hunts up and down.

Speed control for motor is controlled by an automatic governor, so there isn't any adjustments. Surging is caused by an air leak. Has the air filter been changed? Spray card cleaner around that side of the engine to find the air leak. Does it have a choke adjustment? Make and model would be handy in answering this question!

John deere instructions

Your mower doesn't have enough power to handle very thick grass at high speed. You need to go slower across the lawn. That's easy to do if this is a push mower (just don't walk so fast) or if it's a self-propelled model with a speed control. But if it's a single-speed model you'll have to mow the lawn in fits and starts: squeeze the lever to move it forward; release it when you hear it bogging down; wait for the motor to reach full speed; squeeze the lever to move it forward again; repeat. Also, is the grass very high? If so, try setting the cutting height higher on the first pass, then lower it for a second pass. Finally, make sure the blade is sharp.

Where does the throttle linkage spring attach on each end on a Yardworks 173cc 21" (Model# 11A-A2M7515)? I was mowing the lawn and pushing the mower close to a tree and a branch popped off the spring.

there is a little tab behind the air filter but facing forward. it is a funny shape. hook the spring end over this tab and you should be good to go

I have a 6.5 B&S engine on a RYOBI lawn mower That will not come up to mowing RPM. the mower does not have a throttle cable and the spring on the throttle appear to be intach. The engine starts real...

Normally when you move the throttle control on the handle, all that is happening is that governor spring tension is increasing or decreasing pull on the linkage /governor arm. With engine off and plug wire removed, look for a small shaft coming out of the engine with an arm attached. Attached to the small arm will be linkage to the throttle on carb.. So when you move the throttle on the carb with your finger the arm moves also. There should be spring connected to opposite side of governor arm connected to throttle control at the handle or small lever or metal tab. When you incease pull on the spring, the engine will speed-up. Adjust as needed. Good luck

Mower runs at high idle no matter how the carb is adjusted

The carburetor is probably not the issue. There is a spring attached to the carburetor, the tab that it is attached to will control the engine "idle"speed. Adjust it lower for the mower to run at a slower speed. You should only need a pair of long pliers to do this. I hope this helps. If you have tried this and it is still not running correctly please click on add comment to let me know what you have tried. Thank you and I hope this helps.
