On a 6 year old Gateway 310 X that is literally "only driven on Sundays by a little grandma", the power button on the front no longer turns on the unit. If the power cord is unplugged, then plugged back in, both the red and green lights on the front illuminate for about 1.5 seconds, then everything goes out again.
Where should I start looking to resolve this problem?
Hi. this is a failed power supply. the power supply pack will have to be replaced. it located on the rear side of the tower in the upper corner. its where the power cord plugs into. replace the power pack and this will fix the issue at hand.

I have a gateway gm5478 model pc with a 22inch lcd gateway fpd2275w monitor(purchased 12/07) for family use and the monitor started giving me the no signal display about 3-4 months ago and has increased in frequency to the point now that I once it happens I can't get it to recognize the computer. Did all the usual fixes reset and powered everything down, disconnected and then reconnected after a couple of minutes.

I made a ecovery disk and it loads and then works, at the botom it says examining 19092 and I'm pretty sure it freezes. What should I do?
