Question about Gateway 310 X (310XSP) PC Desktop

Gateway 310 X will not power on

On a 6 year old Gateway 310 X that is literally "only driven on Sundays by a little grandma", the power button on the front no longer turns on the unit. If the power cord is unplugged, then plugged back in, both the red and green lights on the front illuminate for about 1.5 seconds, then everything goes out again.

Where should I start looking to resolve this problem?

Thanks.

Hi. this is a failed power supply. the power supply pack will have to be replaced. it located on the rear side of the tower in the upper corner. its where the power cord plugs into. replace the power pack and this will fix the issue at hand.

I have a Gateway 310 XL H desk top PC. After the storm, Isaac, It won't power on. The red and green lights come on, the red goes off after a short time. The monitor flashes a manfacture logo then

The system is powered up if green light on, the hard disk is powered up if red-light on for a few seconds then goes off, but I assume it's not loading up after that. You have no output to video.

Try holding f2 or f4 to load default bios when turning on. If that doesnt work then That would point to me that there is a problem with either:

1) processor burnt out, or needs refitting following a knock to the case causing a bad connection.

2) ram burnt out or not correctly installed. Try refitting the ram or using a different combination of ram.

3. Bios chip burnt out. Sometimes you can literally see the chip is slightly melted.

4. Other motherboard fault, look for melted chip or damaged component.

5. Psu faulty or not connected properly. Check connections, or bench test with another psu.

Have you moved the pc recently? Sometimes dust builds up under processor or along ram, and when moving pc giving it a slight knock can cause bad connection. If dusty, remove clean and re install.

Hope it helps.

My grandaghter is 10 years old and has had a facebook acount for about 6 months. She just chats with her friends. Somehow her account was deleted by facebook and there saying someone hacked into it. ...

Grandma M, I suggest that you open a new account with anotgher email ID and add friends all over again. It can't be too difficult to get together all the friends of a 10 year old! Make sure the password is complex with numbers and letters with some capital letters. It's accounts with simple passwords that get hacked easy. Please tell your grandkid that she should ignore any emails supposedly from facebook asking her to login. This could be a phishing page trying to get her login and PW. She should login ONLY from the main page that is book marked.

Instaalling new ram avoiding static problems.

one way to avoid static, is to literally work naked, on a hard floor (avoid carpets), and allways hold a hand on the frame of the case. but, you realy don't need to work naked either, just make sure that you are properly grounded, (hold on to the frame to decharge yourself of static) work without socks, and preferably on wooden floors or similar. Have fun.

Gateway computer 310 series wont power up when

It sounds to me like the power switch is plugged into the motherboard incorrectly. I would need to know the type of motherboard you have to get you the proper schematic for hooking up the power switch and reset switch to the board. If you have the manual to the motherboard, there should be a detailed picture showing you how it is to be hooked up. Please let me know the motherboard model for further assistance.

Good Luck,

My gateway 310 series desktop will not power on, it was powering on and immediately powering off

sounds like your power supply. try another power strip. try plugging it into another outlet. try the monitor power cable instead of the power cable from the tower. If none of these works, and you get zero power, you need a new power supply.

My acer aspire 53115 is just turning itself off randomly...it seems to be getting a little hotter than usual too, but that my just be my imagination. It is a year old, but I had it in the box for 6 months,...

Hi:
It sounds as if you are experiencing a heat related issue. Often the problem can be taken care of by removing the heatsink/fan assembly, cleaning it, and reapplying thermal paste to both the CPU and GPU.
I am guessing that if your laptop is over a year old, even if you only used it 6 months, that it is out of warranty. You have to be a little careful on disassembly, but it should clear up your problem.

We had that, and yes frustrating! We had a tech for a local repair company come out, take our "box" the inner part of the TV out and the front button bar. They fixed it for about 100 dollars, but I discovered it was literally $6 part.(and I dont remember what it was called either, sorry) but well worth the 100 dollar spent! We love our TV. Good luck.

Reset the unit by clearing the memory. Hold the RIGHT ARROW key and press the POWER BUTTON, while holdingthe RIGHT ARROW key until the DELETE MEMORY screen appears. Select YES and press ENTER. Then procede to initialize the GPS. Leave it outdoors for an hour or so to acquire satelite feed.
