GMS9 unit 3amp fuse blew but after replacing fuse on board with a 5amp still does not work properly. At first a/c unit began working (light came on) so I put door back on then stopped working again. Gave a quick flash of light and went out. Fuse looks fine? Is this a contact problem? Unit only 3 yrs old, no apparent wiring issues
Sorry to confuse but my post meant to say that t-stat faceplate was tried on lower level hvac and worked fine but won't work on problem unit upstairs. Neither faceplate seems to fix prob on upstairs unit. Seems that when 3amp fuse blows the t-stat touch screen does not react unless pushed forcefully. Called t-stat company and they suggested disconnecting 'blue' wire from t-stat (it is optional anyway) but no change. I think fuse has blown again on c-board. Does this sound like problem with system board?
HVAC guy just left, had a bad transformer that needs to be replaced. The old one looks brand new but he tested it and even swapped it with the one downstairs to confirm it was bad. I jus hope that there was nothing else between the t-stat and circuit board that blew the tranny.
I'm still open to comments on this thread
By your own troubleshooting it seems you have a bad thermostat.
