Question about Acer Aspire Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Acer Aspire One CPU goes to 100% way too often.

I have the cpu/ram meter on my desktop and my laptop slows up a lot and often and I can see that it is the cpu, not the ram, that is getting maxed out. How can I prevent it and /or how can I find out what is causing it? Thanks,

Thank you for your help but you should know that there is a difference between RAM and CPU. My RAM is fine, running at 20-40%. The CPU is at 100%.

The RAM is the processing memory of the CPU. The system is probably hitting 100% RAM use because you have malware that is running in the background. A less likely case is that you have so many jobs automatically loaded at startup that memory is being accessed to handle all the different processes. I would suggest loading a good malware cleaner like MalwareBytes and running a system scan. If you have a number of malware items (I have had users with as many as 1500 malware items or as few as 2 malware items), the system will be bogged down because the items are running activities in the background. The malware scan should help identify the malware items and offer the option to delete the items (as always make sure you have backed up critical files before running a scan and removing malware items). After removing the malware items (if any exist) and rebooting your system, you should notice an increase in system speed and a reduction in static-period RAM use. As a side note, cleaning the system will not guarantee prolonged periods of trouble-free RAM processing. Malware tends to come from obscure Internet sites that are frequented and will often return if those sites are revisited.

SOURCE: CPU Upgrade Help Compaq M700

All M700 CPUs are SMT (Surface Mounted Technology) = soldered onboard. You have to replace the whole mobo if you wanna upgrade. Suggest you get the whole bottom piece from eBay - easiest way for upgrade!

The mobo also has a VR sub-board which I was told is different between PII->PIII 500mhz, PIII 600mhz -> PIII 750mhz, and PIII 800mhz-> PIII 1Ghz. So better replace the entire lower piece - lowerfixer.

Changing acer t690 processor

Yes, you can change the CPU, but your Motherboard will only support certain processors, Take a look at this Acer Support, you will see the compatible CPU's: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireT690/AspireT690sp2.shtml Remember : Your machine's component work with one another, within parameters, one component,CPU, will not give you the improvement you might think. CPU, Memory, Graphics Card, Etc.,Upgrades, require more Power/Watts, therefore a new PSU. Which create more heat, new fan. One relies on the other. Do your research, their's a lot more to it than replacing one component. Do a comparison, what will all the components cost, to a new System? The prices for new Good Systems , are low due to slow sales of Desktops/Laptops.

You need to check the RAM memory. For that open back cover of cpu then on motherboard you can see RAM memory reconnect it to motherboard .Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes reconnect all connection again inside the cpu.Make sure motherboard it not ground with cabinet cover. Then check.Reconnect PCI card or vga card if any. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Computer wont start acer aspire L-100

CPU overheated? When you cool it down it will start. You can check whether there are lots of dust on the CPU fan and the chase of the machine, they might block the air flow and overheat the CPU.

Hello,

Please reseat your RAM, and your CPU. Also check that the CPU is locked tight and that the RAM is seated properly. Run off A/C without battery then test with Battery only then with A/C on and battery connected.

No problem want to upgrade

There are lots of possibilities Rob. Endless, I would say. Looking at your specs you could spend up to $400 or $500 depending on what you want.

RAM - $50 to max out @ 4GB
Graphics - $100 to $200 for a good PCI-Express card w/512MB
Sound - $50 to $100 for a good 7.1 card
CPU - $100 for a Pentium Dual Core 2.7GHz with 800MHz FSB

These prices are from www.tigerdirect.com which would be a good place to start.

One thing to consider is the price of a new computer compared with an upgrade. Sometimes you are better off just getting a new one. Again, it depends on what you want...and can afford.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

Task manager CPU performance high!!plz help!!

It also sounds like you have a cooling issue with your processor. Try removing that is over the area of the exhaust vents and clean all the dust and **** off the vents, heat sink, and fan. You may have to remove the fan to do so.

Acer Aspire 5315

I have a friend who has an Acer Aspire 5315 running Vista and it was pretty slow right out of the box with 1gb of ram. I upgraded his Ram to 2gb and it ran moderatly faster and smoother. Vista is a demanding OS because it's so graphical in nature. Windows Vista requires more ram then XP plus a better CPU to run smoothly. His had a 1.6ghz Celeron which is not that great of a CPU to begin with but uping your ram will usually up your performance a few degrees. Be careful with cheap ram it can run hot and unstable. Make sure go with a name brand PNY, Corsair, Kingston, etc. Don't just buy House ram (generic) because it's cheap. It's not worth wasting your money on junk ram.

Hope this helps. M~

100% of CPU used

I can think of this:

If you are running Linux, do you have a SWAP partition active for Ubuntu? That and RAM, how much do you have?

If you are low on RAM or your SWAP partition is little, your CPUs will be running a lot.

Please check back with us for more information you may have or further questions. Thanks!
