To those things, you have to know first where you are going to connect. And once where you know where you are going to connect, it is easy to apply all the settings and all.

A friend of mine had the same problem. The 3.5mm headphone socket was playing up, thinking they were still plugged in. She plugged headphones in and give it a push and a wiggle, then took it out and now it works. Give it a try.

This is currently not possible. A lot of people have mentioned this though so I guess Micrsoft will do something about this in an upcoming update.
