Question about GE GSS25VGMWW / GSS25VGMCC Side by Side Refrigerator

GSS25VGMD refrigerator not cooling evenly

I have a GSS25VGMD GE refrigerator. The bottom on both sides (refrigerator and freezer) keeps everything too cold and the top on both sides (refrigerator and freezer)keps things to warm. I thought it was the fan in the freezer becasue it was not turning so i replaced it bu it still does not work. Could you tell me what it would be that is causing this?

I would observe the back wall for frost or ice accumulation if there is i would check the defrost circuit. the heater would be first, if it is good check the sensor is more than suspect. the defrost sensor is the one on top of the evaporator. If no ice is present open the door and feel the cabinet where the gasket touches on the frame. if it is extremly warm that would indicate that your condenser fan on the bottom at the back of the unit is out, this would also cause the symtoms you are having

Sounds like you have a frost blocked evaporator. That the term for a refrigerator which is not automatically defrosting. Unload the freezer, remove the shelves and the back wall out of the freezer, melt the frost with a hair dryer, replace the defrost heater at the bottom of the cooling coils and replace the white 1.5 inch long sensor at the top of the cooling coils.

you have a blocked drain, when the freezer defrosts the water should go down drain but yours is blocked,i use a steamer to do this and you can get one for 40 bucks it's a shark super steamer, look at the back wall at the bottom you will see the drain hole, melt it out with hair dryer and then blow out the drain line with the steamer or use something to snake out the drain,if you use a coat hanger or something watch out because the drain line is pastic, when you think you unblocked the line pour hot water down the drain and if it goes down your done, you might have to take the back freezer wall off if you can't get at the drain hole, good luck, slime builds up in the drain or some thing could be blocking it like a corn kernel or something like that and the water freezes up because it can't drain
