Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool quietwash plus 940 series dishwasher that has stopped working. It left water standing in the bottom of it. When I push the button to start it, it makes clicking sounds and acts like it is going through the cycles but it's not working. Model number DU940QWDB3. Any suggestions on what might be wrong with it appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the response. It is not working at all. When I push the button to start a cycle, I hear a faint click, but that's all. It does not start washing. It doesn't do anything.

    Thanks for advice.

The symptoms indicate that the control panel may be working, but either a fuse has opened up, or a relay is not working properly. Does the wash cycle work, and draining is the only problem?

Well, the manual I found online is not free, it will cost you $9.99. http://www.user-manuals.com/user-manual-WHIRLPOOL-DU940QWDB3.html

Because you hear a faint click, that means that your power is probably making it all the way to your control panel. There may be a weak solenoid or some other component that is not working properly. It is also possible that there could be a bad connection somewhere. Do you have any experience in working with appliances like this? If not you may want to seek the help of a professional to work on this in person.

Turned on the 1 hr button and it did start but after a few minutes it stopped. None of the controls are lit and the water is just standing in the bottom. What do I do to get it started again?

If it fills with cold water, it will pause and try to heat the water... if there is no heater function, it will never achieve wash temperature.

Whirlpool dishwasher quiet plus 940 series. When I press the normal button, the light comes on, I hear a click, but the thing won't start. Any ideas?

Sounds like the door interlocking system. Is the door closing properly? Is there anything in the way?

hi there........this fault is usually associated with a faulty flow meter....situated on the lower left hand side of the apliance and is only accessible on removal of the left hand cabinet panel

without model unablr to look up exact unit, but in genreral, either ther is a blockage/clog in oyour drain line not alowing complete drain of cycle, as far as never really washing, i would look into perhaps a faulty/ sloppy door switch assembly. if for some reason the dorr latch "loses contact" the machine will take that as someone openig the door and thus stopping from proceding in cycle.with complete model umber i may bbe able to assist further

No power

Hi lushman001

I'm Harvey the Master Plunber.

Your question is: your 3-yr-old dishwasher (Whirlpool 24-inch ) stopped in mid-cycle. A small amount standing water in the bottom of the washer. None of the control panel buttons were lit up and none of them will work. NO POWER

First check all the breakers (or fuses).
Second check the electrical connections. If you're not a qualified electrician or service tech then call one. It"s under the unit behind the kickplate.

Whirlpool Quiet Wash Plus Dishwasher is not despensing the detergent properly. After a wash cycle there is still some left.

My Whirlpool Quiet Wash plus dishwasher seems to have died. No power. None of the buttons work, it quiet mid-cycle. No breaker issue, my garbage disposal runs off same breaker and is working fine. Any ideas? I was thinking the comp. board that the buttons work off of is fried. If this is the case any idea how much to replace it? Would it be cheaper to buy a new dishwasher?
