Be sure to connet the sound card speaker and install sound drivers for the moniter to get it to work you can go to http//www.hp.com select compaq and slect your model to download the correct drivers, also make sure you don't have any speakers muted in the mixer driver by double clicking on the speaker on the lower right hand corner on the lower right hand corner.

I have a new Acer desktop model Aspire X1301 and it seems to work fine except for a complete lack of sound. I have the audio wire hooked up to the rear of the tower - there are several ports to choose from...

First thing I would make sure it is plugged into the correct port. Make sure it's the one with the headphone Icon...They are usually green, but i've seen some pink ones. Physically get behind it and look. Then I would make sure the 3.5 audio plug is plugged into the monitor. I looked it up and there are 2 speakers in the monitor. Then when the PC is turned on and you are playing music, check the settings on the monitor itself...the little silver buttons in front...make sure the volume is turned up. Also, check the volume on the PC itself down by the clock. There will be a little speaker icon..make sure that it's not muted or something. Hopefully this helps ya, if not post back and we'll troubleshoot some more.

Monitor display is turned 90 degrees, how do I turned it back

It's funny. It's caused by (someone). It's user created prob.
Well it's sure it's intel graphics card. Look next to your clock, u will find a little blue screen like icon. It's there that your problem will be solved. Right click on it & go to the menu. Configure it on normal.

Adjust the screen resolution a little lower and the icons will be a little larger.
Try a screen resolution of 1028 X 768

Mystery icon on Dell Keyboard Model SK 8115

The icon should mean the NUM LOCK is on. All that does is activate the numberpad on the right side of the keyboard. Chances are the monitor's backlight is bad. Try another monitor. You can also get a flashlight, turn it on and hold it very close to the face of the screen. Look closely at the screen, can you see your desktop or login screen? If so the backlight is not working with in the monitor.
