Question about Sharp Televison & Video
I have a 30'' SHARP Aquos LC30HV2U that has a bad power supply. Nothing happens when I turn on the LCD - though it is getting power confirmed by green light going on but nothing on LCD. Visual inspection of boards look fine. How do I find out schematic to find out which board is bad?
Buy the green light going on means Standby is ok. Next, would be to locate the plug coming from the main board to the power supply and find the post that says PO which means power on. With your meter on that post, press the power button as see if the reading goes High, if it does then the main board is able to turn on the power supply. Next, find the plug on the power supply that goes to the inverter( the long board on the side) remove it and see if you have 24 volts coming out of the power supply when you press the power. If you do, then the inverter board is bad, if you don't have 24 v, then the power supply is bad. There are NO diagrams available for these set other than a flow chart if you can find one. A regular svc tech does'nt need a manual for these anyway.
Let me know how you do Kathy ?

Take a close look at capacitors on the DC power (where the line cord plugs in) - if any of them are bulging or have a white substance on them instead of shhiny metal - then the capacitors are bad. I recently replaced all the capacitors on the DC boards on a coupld 22" LCD monitors and for about $15 each (including shpping) go them both working again. I found kits of capacitors specific to my monitors - could also go to the local electronics component store or other oinline sources to get the individual capacitors for a couple dollars each.

You did try the CLEAR button on front of the box?
One possible idea is the cables going the box to the TV. ( might be bad )
If your sure about the problem, you can get your Service Manual here:
This with have all the schematic, diagrams, part number, and test points you need.
