Mordaunt short ms409w subwoofer rear panel removal

After removing all the outside screws the rear panel will not come away easily. I don't want to damage it by forcing it. How do I remove this panel.
Thank You.

Take off all the outside screws and the 4 just inside the outside screws. Use a sharp strong blade (I used a paint scaper blade and it's holder - it looks like a large razor blade) to prise any part of the edge away then use any flat lever to go around the whole edge. There is a slightly stickey rubber gasket that stops the panel coming away easily. Use a piece of cloth to protect the cabinet. There is a plastic 'box' inside and the wires inside for the speaker and the front L.E.D. are quite short and are cable clamped on to the plastic box. The led wires can be unclipped from the pcb, but I had to cut the speaker wires.................good luck.

You don't have to cut the speaker wires.
Under the foam wrapping is a connector - just unclip it!

Hi my name is Ben. I have a Mordaunt Short home theatre system which is probably 6 yo but has had very little use. On standby mode, the 309W sub started to make a buzzing sound with intermittent louder...

It can be repaired. A transistor shorted and possibly some resistors burned open as well. This is due to an overload causing the transistor to drive hard creating heat and eventually shorting out. The transistor needs to be isolated, removed, and replaced as well as the resistors.

Mordaunt short ms409w dead - both fuses blown

This kind of thing is impossible to "fix" remotely.
Check the bridge rectifier first then suspect the Class D output module on the heat-sink. The main smoothing capacitors, I have had one go completely open circuit but I wouldn't suspect one of going short circuit (Would only blow one fuse).
I have not been able to find any circuits for this model as I have two of these subws myself.
Anyone found any?

Mordaunt Short Avant 309i subwoofer set-up

Lots of ways. To set it up properly you will need a decibel meter, Radio Shack makes a nice one. With the meter volume can easily be set as well as phase. I'm assuming frequency is the crossover frequency, generally set at 80Hz. This one involves some trial and error as I am not familiar with your speakers. Don't know much about the notch filter. A good resource for setting up subs can be found at: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/bfd-rew-forum/index3.html
