Remove the front cover, lift the rubber keypad and clean the button surface with damp cloth. NOT WET. Allow it to dry for a few minutes, reassemble and start using. Some dust may have gone between the rubber pad and the keys.

2600 keypad solution

If you are experiencing a keypad issue or other keys are not working. I would suggest to buy a new keypad because the old keypad might not able to reach the mother anymore. By replacing it a new keypad everything will just work fine.

Nokia 6600 keypad/key problem! I hope I've put this in the right section, as I'm not sure if this is a hardware of software problem I've posted it here, hope I'm right! icon_razz.gif

I bought a Nokia 6600 recently with a joystick that didn't go down. I replaced the keypad pcb, as there was a small tear in the ribbon at the bottom of the old keypad PCB. This fixed the joystick problem, but I now realise there is another problem with the phone!

The numbers 7,8, and 9 all display 1,2, and 3 when you press them. The '0' key seems to clear whatever's on the screen, so I suspect it's acting like the red end call key. It does this with both keypad PCBs installed, so I think it's another problem. Would this be the small gold contacts on the bottom of the phone, a software problem, or some other gremlin in the works?

I've had a quick search and someone suggested *#7370# to reset the phone, and someone else said it could be a keypad IC that's gone - any other suggestions? I'm at work tonight so can't get to the phone until tomorrow morning, and as the '0' key isn't working properly I can't check which software version the phone is running icon_frown.gif

Keys 3 and 6 do not work

When you remove the main board, clean where the main keypad flex plugs into the motherboard. Clean the end of the flex too.

Also, if you want to try, very very slowly and carefully peel up the switches. This is the white sticker with all the little metal domes under it. You have to remove the metal keypad to do so. If you've already disassembled the phone, you should be fine with that. If you haven't broken it down that far, let me know and i will give you step by step instructions.

Also, if moisture is involved, you may want to take the outer cover off the top 1/2 and clean that upper Flex plug also.

4 T5 torx screws located under the 4 rubber bushing at each corner of the inner LCD screen. Once those screws are removed, the outer cover where the outer display and the camera lens are will pop off. Might be a little firm, but it is just snapped in. That will expose the main flex plug on the left and the camera plug on the right.

Please rate if this was helpful, or like I said, let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

91% rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush are just about the best things to use for this cleaning.

If this level of cleaning doesn't take care of it, you can try replacing the keypad flex, or it may need heatshield removal and sonic cleaning to remove any potential corrosion that may be shorting it out under the switch relay module.

Spontaneous Dialing *88888***8888

I had the same problem with a RAZRV3xx, with the 3 key. My solution was to blow compressed air at the keypad, so far, this works.
