IF it is a standard style vacuum, then there will normally be between 5 and 7 screws that need to be removed, the the cover can be pried off (usually by depressing 2 locking tabs
I did not read theentire problem because it wasn't allowing me to read the whole complaint so I presume you are trying to replace a broken belt?

Hi,

Yes this could be a case due to which there is no suction. I am posting an article which gives you a detailed description of how to open it and repair the internal parts.

BRUSHES WILL NOT ROTATE

Remove side cover below is a small piece of red plastic with screw attatched check to make sure belt is not broken or for some reason come off. Could be hair build up or your vaccum cleaner is not picking up enough dirt and debri causing it to clog. Steve

Brush won't turn but belt is not broken

DC07s have two belts - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
I suspect the belt you are to refering to is the one from the clutch to the brush bar. Unfortuenately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available on eBay2_bing.gif reasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing your machine, but unless you have access to such tools, and feel confident to tackle it, it's probably time to call Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.

take the vacuum head off the end of the tube , turn the machine and place your hand over the end of the tube
if it sucks your hand onto the tube , the machine is working as a vacuum machine
then check fro a blockage in the elbow section near the head
if there is no vacuum , junk it and get a new one

You need to replace the belt that drives the brush on the underneath side of the vacuum. To do this, you need to flip the vacuum over and remove cover plate. There you will find the broken, or stretched out belt. Remove the brush and place the new belt on the chrome axle. Then put the brush on, rapping the new belt around the brush as you put the brush back in place.

Bottom on the vaccum the spin brush will not spin at all

Double check for anything that might be holding it from spinning (shoe lace, string, hair, ribbon, etc)

If the brushes are free to move by hand, you most likely have either a broken belt or a belt that simply came off the motor. What you'll need to do in either case, is open up the vacuum cover. The screws are usually located at the bottom of the vacuum (where the brushes are) and remove all the visible screws you see.

Most of the time (being that I don't know what kind of vac you have, that is enough to remove the top cover off for you to inspect either the motor or the belt which attaches to the motor. I know on my hoover, the belt slips off very easily, so I always need to keep my screwdriver handy to perform this.

Hope this helps.
