D4eb 2.2crd sounds like noisy lifter, have replaced all eight noise still there, wonder if any problems with valve seats

check cam lobes are all shiny and no missing sections
if it is a valve it could be a loose valve seat insert -- normally associated with a miss in engine noise
noise could be from worn rocker bushes or the rocker face on the valve stem end

How do I check my engine for a valve tap? It's a 1995 Buick century special four cylinder

one way is to remove the rocker cover and start the engine
let idle and using a screw driver gently place pressure on the rockers to keep the rocker on the valve end
you will hear the tap go when you press on the loose rocker

Exhaust cam problem #3 cylinder

as the exhaust cams are fixed on the camshaft, unless there is a failure of the cam lobe for no 3 cylinder , there will be problems for all the cylinders on that cam
have a compression test done to check for burnt /bent valve or a loose valve seat insert for that cylinder
of the valves are operated by a rocker off the cam, it may be a rocker bush or worn rocker shaft that is the problem and not the cam shaft.

Why wont the rocker arm go up or down on left side of my generator and how do i fix it.i replaced the rocker arm on that side it was broke .the bolt was broke

Several reasons why an OHV rocker won't work.

  • Push rod not installed in the lifter.
  • Stuck valve
  • Valve guide work loose jamming valve movement
  • Bad cam lobe.
Are just a few possibilities.

I pulled my valve covers on my 04 jeep liberty 3.7 and both sides have a rocker arm that has slipped off. there doesn't seem to be any damage done, but i have yet to pull the heads off. what should i look...

Hi, without a rocker arm, the valve would stay closed. As the lash adjusters may have been loose for a while, check the camshaft lobes for wear as well as the rockers themselves. Look around for other stuff the rocker may have damaged while bouncing around in the valve cover. Replace all of the lash adjusters, making sure to put the rockers back on their original valves. Not sure you need to pull the heads. Why don't you put it back together and run a compression test. If compression is good, valves are probably fine. Let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Mitsubishi Montero 2001 - 3.5 litre Rattle in the valve train rocker arms? Cary

It could be one of the rockers are loose or you're not getting oil up there. Have it checked out quickly before the engine locks down if it's due to oil not being pumped correctly. A loose rocker is just as bad. Dumb question, But have you checked the oil level?

Rocker arm come out on jeep chrysler 3.7 eng

A rocker arm is the arm that sits on top of the valve stem and connects to the push rods 'the push rods sit on the cam so when engine is running, the push rods go up and down in a timed sequence and with the rocker arms, open and close the inlet and exhaust valves. the rocker arm is located inside the valve(rocker)cover .If the rocker arm gets loose or comes out.
Check the nuts on the shaft which holds the rocker arms.either the shaft or nuts are got loose. They need to be tightened.Don't make it too tight or too loose.  Too tight, and they don't flutter right. Too loose, and they allow the rocker arms to wiggle out of whack. Other possibility can be  something is broken, bent, collapsed, or out of adjustment.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

89 cherokee. 4.2 stroker. good oil pressure but some rattling noise in top end at idle then clears up with throttle. possibly a loose rocker?

Loose rocker, bent rocker, bent push rod, loose or bent rocker stud are a few things that come to mind. Take off the valve covers and with each cylinder at top dead center, check the play on each rocker assembly and inspect for any bent parts. Visually look down, and to the side for any mis-alignment.

Knocking or ticking in the engine, under the valve cover ticking under valve cover in 94 cavalier i think it is the rocker arms

you are right its either a rocker arm broken or loose or it also could be a broken valve spring so look for all three While you have the valve cover off to save you coming back and looking again ... thanks Jerry
