Are you sure it is turning off and it is not just that the squelch button is set too high? Also, might be worth checking the menus to see if it has an auto off setting if left unattended. These things are often used as power saving devices.

T4500 motorola walkie talkie power button not working. I have put in new batteries but I can't get it to turn on.

The easiest thing I can think of is to jump out the power switch and short it to a constant on position.

Hope it helps.

I have the CXT88. It's been a while since I dont use them. Now I can't get them to work.

Assuming these are Cobra CXT88 radios.
Manual: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/29293/Cobra-Microtalk-Cxt88.html

Make certain they are fully charged. I suspect the batteries. If the radio was left in the "on" position, it is very likely the batteries will not take a charge. The batteries can die in the drawer as well. Lithium batteries for all their good points really do not store well. (Yes, expensive lithium batteries such as your power tools or laptops do store well.) So, plan on new batteries. Many radios have become less expensive this year, so price out a new pair. That way you would have fresh batteries and a new charger.

I put new batteries in it, and it got hot to touch, and again with new batteries but no longer turns ON. Can it be fixed, or should I purchase a new 720? Rod

Please, brand of the 720 so I can advise. Googling showed at least 4 walkie talkies with that number. The hot to touch means a short. It could be a bad battery or who knows? Depending on how hot, it may need repair. Depending on what brand it is, there may or may not be repair available.

Charging/Charged Indicators

I don't know what model of radio, but here is what I would try: pull the batteries and charge them on the charger by themselves if your charger allows this. The lights, well, some manufacturers just miss the boat. Especially on low end or "beginner" radios. I have one brand I can insert with NO BATTERY and the light comes on. Talk about useless. Charge times vary by size of battery and charger output, minimum is 3 hours, 12 hours much more likely but I see a lot at 5-7 hours. Hope this helps, model and brand helps always.

One of three Uniden GMR3740-3CK constantly recieves static that goes on and off. tried swapping batteries and did not work. rx display goes on. Very annoying. Other 2 radios are fine. Is there a setti

Well, it IS the squelch level. Most radios do not have an adjustment for this. Take the bad one back, you've done all the tests you can. Good job.

When turned on, the screen stays red and you can't do anything

You might try contacting Giant Intl. 1-800-638-5119,
giantintl@callcenter.com. They produce the radio for Motorola and are able to troubleshoot over the phone or by email. I have read through the manual and did not find anything pertaining to this problem. http://shop.giantintl.com/Manuals.asp

Walkie talkies were working yesterday (gift from Christmas) and today the red power light is on indicating both working, but we can only get sound out of one of them.....any suggestions? brand new...

Hello,
These walkie talkies are pretty simple to use. Turn on and turn the volume up and talk. So if you turn it on it is possible for there to be enough juice in the batteries to make the LED function but not enough to modulate (or talk) to the other walkie talkie. Have you tried to replacing the batteries with new ones yet? Sometimes recharge ables go bad and they are no good when you install them into your item. So make sure the batteries you installed are "new." And replace in both units. Should this not work, given the nature of the item and the age of those who will more than likely be using them, they break and soldier joints come loose. The back has a screw that is a specialty tool to remove. Outside of removing that and taking a look there is not much that can be done. Make sure to put at least 5 feet between the two radios to allow for good reception.
Regards, Tony
