Dryer is only 5 yrs old. Started to blow cool air. Not heating. Vent was blocked from outside. Cleared vent, flab is open, but dryer still not blowing hot air. Is there a reset on this machine? Why...

There is a device in the circuitry for the heating element which shuts off power to the heating element when the dryer gets above a certain temperature which is ealsily reached with a clooged vent hose. This device, a thermal limit switch or thermal fuse, cannot be reset, it has to be replaced.

If you want to do this yourself, let me know -- if not, you will need to arrange for someone to repair the dryer. The device costs about $20 -- a service tech will probably charge up to $150 for the repair.

My Kenmore HE5 dryer will not run without blowing an internal fuse. The repairman replaced the fuse, and it blew again. The dryer heats up but will not turn it's heating element off until the fuse blows....

Has any one checked the exhaust vent, other than a bad thermostat the number one cause for the thermal fuse to open is a clogged or restricted exhaust vent flow, the entire vent system needs to be checked ( not just the hose from the unit to the wall) for proper air flow. Turn the unit on TIMED ,AIR DRY (NO HEAT) and go outside to the exhaust vent and check the air flow,if there is any question as to weather the air flow is sufishent get someone out to clean the exhaust vent ,it always a good idea to clean out every few years regardless to help prevent build up of lint witch could cause a fire......Hope this Helps Good Luck

My Whirlpool Super Duty Imperial drier won't produce heat. I made sure the outside vent was unclogged; it is blowing cold air.

When a dryer doesn't heat, either the heating element is bad, or the flap inside the venting of the dryer is opened allowing air to bypass the dryer instead of blowing the air into the dryer.

Can 3431 be converted to a regular vented dryer?

You cannot convert this model. This unit blows hot air into drum and the water is turned to steam and exhausted out through the pump to the drain. Unlike regular dryers that blow hot air into drum, creating link and just heat that blow out vent.

Why does dryer heat and tumble, but doesn't blow air

No air flow is due to a restriction due to lint build up. Pull the lint filter and look closely at it. Sometimes the filter gets a residue from dryer softener sheets that can cause lint to stick to the screen and block air flow. To remove wash it with a mild detergent and use a gentle brush on it.

If that is clear then the restriction is further inside the dryer or in the vent pipe between the dryer and wall or the pipe that goes from the wall to the outside. You may have to take off the vent hose and turn the dryer on to see if air blows out the back of the dryer for a few seconds. If air blows there then the problem is in the house venting and you need to have that cleaned.

You vent is plugged very bad. Disconnect the vent tubing and thoroughly clean it out. It will heat and dry like new afterwards guaranteed. These dryers have sensors that shut the burner off if the exhaust is not venting properly. Once its cleared out it will run perfectly again
