Problem with monitor

Hi! I'm having a problem with my HP Compaq nx6110 laptop. The problem started 4 days ago. When i plug in the power cable, my screen becomes very dull making me strain my eyes in order to see whats  on the screen. And when i remove the power, it becomes bright (normal) which is the opposite of what should occur. I am wondering what the problem could be. I have never experienced this before. I cannot use it for long without plugging in power because the battery becomes depleted & it goes off.

This morning when i switched it on, it gave me the following message;

"Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready"

I was surprised as there was no disks in it. So i had to restart it but this time it did not show this message, it started normally.

Is this the end of my laptop? I'm really worried. This is a struggle for sure. Please help me out on this. Thanks in advance. Your efforts will be highly appreciated.

Yours truly,
Gabzie.

    I have a problem with my HP Compaq nx6110 PC Notebook. Whenever I plug in the power cord the screen becomes dull. hen I remove it it becomes back to normal. I tried changing the power supply cord but it appears to be the same. I'm afraid it might crash sooner. I need some assistance in solving this problem.

Hi Gabzie,

Don't worry regarding that the issue regarding the display could be probably you try changing the brightness when you  are plugged with  you power  supply and regarding the non system disk error may at that point of time the system has taken both the hard disk and dvd drive as master that is the reason you have got this message if this repeats then please provide me the serial no. and product no of the notebook and where do you live so that i'll guide you.

OS?

Check the "Power Options" in your "Control Panel" (classic view). For whatever option you have picked, click "Change plan settings". There you can either "Restore default settings", or manually "Change advanced settings". If you choose "advanced settings", look for "Display" / "Display brightness".

Usually one of the function buttons F5-F8 etc together with the FN button will toggle through from lcd to tv/external monitor to both.

Is the cable S-Video or does your tv accept a dvi or vga input?
Do you connect using the s-video output on the laptop or the standard external monitor port?
