It got wet a little and now doesn;t work. how can i fix this?

Please DO NOT use rice or any other small particulate material to try to absorb moisture. The problem is not with moisture removal directly, but with the mineral deposits that remain once the water is gone. This camera should be brought to a shop ASAP. The camera needs to be disassembled and cleaned. While moisture removal MAY appear to resolve the problem, the mineral deposits will remain and cause corrosion and future failure that will NOT be repairable.

The sooner this camera is serviced the more likely it will be OK.

Got camera wet

If your device gets covered in water, act fast and rationally, and you may be able to save your device.

2. Pull out the battery.
3. Please your device and battery into a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb any moisture.
4. Please it in a warm, dry place where it can receive direct sunlight.
5. Be patient. It is recommended that you leave it in there for at least 48 hours.
6. After 48 hours, put the battery back in and power on.

Flip left outdoors for two months

You may be able to recover the camera to previous functionality if you disassemble the camera and clean the PCB's (printed circuit boards) of dew/water staining.
Spray the lens with WD-40 to stop it seizing and put the rest of the components in dry warm place for a couple of days so they can dry out.
Reassemble the camera and try to power it up.

Good luck.

My cannon elura 70 got wet and now it will not power up or eject the tape even after it appears dry. Anything simple I can do before I bring it in to have it checked out?

Since the post date appears to be 7/16/2009, I would open it in a dry place and blow dry air over it to ensure it is completely dry. If the camera was very clean before it got soaked, it may recover. If it was dusty or had been in "bad" environment, the water might have carried crud into the camera mechanizm or into the electronics.

Try to dry and then report back!

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

I was getting the same code and a dinging noise. I tried a cleaner and I tried letting the camera dry wasn't wet! Neither worked. SOOO...Don't buy a cleaner. Look inside camcorder and make sure both reel turners are equal in height...they can slide down. Turn both of of mine was down and also did not turn to make contact with tape. We got it to turn and the message C31:23 and the dinging quit. The stripes/bars also went away. Camera1.gif instantly worked like it used to. Good luck.

E:61:10, can I fix it myself?

the problem of your camera is the lens assembly.... one of the lens motor is not running or stuck up...try to remove the connection of the lens assembly and back it again...

Camera not working

That soft buzzing sound seems to me would be the power supply inside the camera trying to operate something under a loaded condition like maybe ba stuck iris or lens or could even be those small caps (we call them Pan caps)inside your camera are starting to go bad. unless your quite good at micro electronics I would leave this one for the pros.. Contact the sony service depot in your owners manual.
