SOURCE: Spilled Grape Juice

To give it a good cleaning, you will need to remove the keyboard and clean anywhere you can see juice or feel stickiness. You can buy the expensive computer cleaners, but I suggest 50/50 rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Remove the battery and C-mos battery to make sure there is absolutely no power to the machine what so ever. After cleaning inside, you will want to give it a good 24 hours to dry, ensure that there is no moisture before applying power. If the juice reached the bottom of the machine, you may need to remove the screen, split the cases, and take the motherboard out, in order to clean the bottom side of the board. If you leave juice anywhere on the board it will gum up, and the acids in the juice will corrode and detierate the circuitry on the board causing a motherboard failure. Now the keyboard, in order to thoroughly clean the keyboard, I suggest that you spray a good amount of the rubbing alcohol in the keyboard, shake it or blow it out with air, then take paper towels and daub up the rest. Repeat this two or three times, then let it dry approx 24 hours. Sometimes the keyboard won't recover after a spill and will need replaced. If it works properly, then, after using the keyboard for a while, you will notice if any of the keys are sticking. Take the sticky key or keys off and clean them individually. I know it's alot of work, but it'll teach you not to keep open drinks around your laptop. It did me, I've ruined one machine, two keyboards, and thoroughly cleaned a third very expensive machine of mine to keep it working, but I finally learned to drink from a sippy around my laptops.

SOURCE: Colorado over heating

then you will need to have it diagnosed or have the thermostat replaced. Since it only does this on a hill most likley doagnosing it will be a waste of time since noone has a hill like the grapevine to test it.

So get the thermostat and a coolant flush done. Thats about all you can do other than replacing the sensor or the gauge

SOURCE: We just purchased a 2005

Well, it's a good idea to change the timing belts every 80,000 mi. or so, and sooner under severe service. However, I have not heard about Buicks from the 2005 model year having a particular problem with the timing belts, more than any other brand.

I read over the gasoline engine recalls and didn't see it listed.

We planted new grape plants a few months ago. Now have little grapes forming along the vines . Just need to know can I cut off the long vine/cane just after the last bunch.

Unfortnately, those grapes need to be pruned off the plant for two years to make the roots and the plant stronger.

  • In the first couple of years, the vine should not be allowed to produce fruit. It needs to strengthen its root system before it can support the extra weight of fruit.
  • Pruning is important. Not only would vines run rampant without control, but canes will only produce fruit once. Prune annually when vines are dormant, in March or April. This is before the buds start to swell, but when winter damage is apparent.
  • Don't be afraid to remove at least 90 percent of the previous season's growth. This will ensure a higher quality product.
  • Remember, the more you prune, the more grapes you will have.
  • In the first year, cut back all buds except for 2 or 3. Then, select a couple of strong canes and cut back the rest. Make sure the remaining canes are fastened to the support.
  • In the second year, prune back all canes. Leave a couple of buds on each of the arms. Remove flower clusters as they form.
  • Do not fertilize in the first year unless you have problem soil. Fertilize lightly in the second year of growth.

I have seen AOC written on several wine labels. What does this mean?

AOC can be found on bottles of French wines, it stands for Appellation d'Origine Controlee. It refers to specified regions, with controls on several aspects including: variety of grape, density and size of vines, maximum yield, minimum alcohol level and processing techniques.

    What is Ice wine?

Ice wines are manufactured in cold climates, most often Germany or parts of Canada. To make an ice wine, grapes are left on the vine until they start to become raisins and then freeze. Timing of harvest (in relation to climate) is very crucial in the process of making ice wines. Temperatures of -7C or below are needed to produce a good quality ice wine. The combination of the overripe grapes with the concentration leftover from removing excess water from frozen grapes results in a sweet tasting wine.

    How are wines named?

Wines are named for one of two reasons: the grape variety or the region where the grapes were grown.

The first type is named after either the sole (or principle, if blended) grape variety that makes up the wine. Many times a wine is blended; you may not find that information on the label. Each country has its own specifications that dictate the minimum percentage of the named grape that a wine must contain.

The second way to classify wines, by their region, is quite common in Europe. Instead of the label dictating whether the wine is a Merlot, Syrah, or Cabernet Sauvignon; in this case, the label will say Burgundy, Bordeaux, or Sancerre. This technique is used because many of these regions are famous for a certain grape variety.
