Question about Husqvarna Viking 1

Viking Sewing Machine

My bobbin thread keeps breaking. I rethreaded everything and noticed that the thread coming from the bobbin was very tight so I loosened the bobbin screw but it is still hard to pull through. I blew out all the fiber dust and loosened the screw some more but still tight and I noticed that when I was sewing the bobbin thread was lying flat and the needle thread was doing all the looping which indicates the bobbin thread is too tight but I have the bobbin so the tread is way looser than it is suppose to be.

Re: Viking Sewing Machine

Be sure you haven't missed a loop while threading the bobbin. If that's not it, check how well the bobbin is turning on the spindle. If it is threaded properly and you have cleaned it, I suspect you will find some damage to the bobbin that is causing it to bind on the spindle. If you have another bobbin, try it and see what happens.

Post back to let me know what you find.

Trying to sew zigzag but the bobbin thread is showing up on top

1. Try to loosen the top tension first.
2. If this doesn't work remove the bobbin and tighten the bobbin.
3. The purpose of this is to have the top and bottom tension even. This is similar to a tug of war. Whichever way is stronger is where the knot will be going. You want the knot in the middle of the fabric.
4. Test your top tension by leaving the foot up. Pull the thread through back and forth. It should be easy. If it isn't you will need to adjust the tension mechanism.

There is a tension set document added to help you.

My Janome 1600 keeps breaking threads

Is the tension too tight? Are the tension discs clean? Remove bobbin case, clean it and re-thread as this may be jammed.

My viking emerald 118 machine just started breaking needles and the bobbin thread will not hold. YOu can pull the bobbin stitch out by pulling the thread.

Check the upper tension by lowering the presser foot and pulling on the thread through the needle. You should feel resistance. If not, take a stiff brush and clean out the tension disks/dials removing any loose threads or lint. If upper tension is ok, check bobbin tension by pulling thread through needle plate opening. You should feel resistance. If not, remove bobbin case and brush any loose threads or lint from the case, especially in the tension spring where the thread is snapped into place. You may need to use a sharp needle to dig in between the spring but be careful that you don't damage it.

Why does my thread keep breaking on my machine while i am sewing

the top tension could be to tight
the needle could be damaged
try rethreading the machine just in case the thread is caught somewhere
clean under the needle plate & bobbin area for lint or loose threads
always make sure the top & bobbin thread tails are at least 3 to 6 inches long & pulled behind the needle to the back of the machine

Needle severs thread each time I start sewing

Take the thread completely off the top of the machine. Put in a new needle. Remove the bobbin. When you rethread the top of the machine make sure the presser foot (that rests on the fabric) is in the "UP" position and rethread the top. Also when you thread the top, put some "pull" on the thread as you thread it, don't just lay the thread in the tracks. You need to pull the thread with some taughtness through the machine so it gets into the correct places under the covers so you have good tension and good stitching. Then put the bobbin back in and make sure when you thread the bobbin case that the thread "clicks" slightly as you pull the thread into the metal tension area of the black bobbin case. Anytime a sewing machine breaks thread at the needle, you should unthread the entire top and rethread it because the thread can jump out of it's guides that are under the plastic covers and you won't be able to see it, but you will see very ugly stitching!!!

Thread breaks

Check to see if the lower thread be tangled. Also, the bobbin could be threaded improperly in the shuttle hook. Rethread the bobbin in the shuttle hook.
How to detangle a thread---

  • When a machine stops operation due to tangled thread, do not turn the pulley by force.
If the pulley is turned by force then, lower thread might not be picked up correctly and stitches might not be formed correctly.

  • If threads get tangled, remove a needle plate and cut the tangled threads by scissors or cutter.
  • Do rate the solution if you find it helpful & useful.

    Machine not working

I had this happen the first day I got my machine. The bobbin case has probably came loose from the holder. There is a step by step cleaning instruction in the manual and it tells you how to reset the bobbin case in the holder in the manual.
