Right click not working

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 and can't get the right-click button to work. I have lmited work space so a wireless mouse just is a pain. The mouse pad on my computer works fine, I just can't right-click if need be.
Any suggestions greatly appriciated

Although I already knew to look at my mouse issues, it is still not working. I am using a wireless just in case. Dell has been out to replace my screen and then my motherboard because things stopped working withinh the first six months. My Dad got me this and I simply forgot to update my warrenty but will give Dell a call and see what can happen from there. But I appriciate your time.

    Thank you

Go into the mouse icon in the control panel and make sure its not disabled in there. If it is then enable it. If its not disabled in there then the board underneath your mousepad is bad. The right tactile button undernath the right mouse button is bad so the whole board would need to be replaced cause it comes as one whole board. You can get it directly from Dell or get one from Ebay.

Your welcome Kymberly. Hope dell can fix your mouse problem. It does sound like the board underneath the mousepad is definitely the problem. Please rate me when you get the chance for my solution even though Dell will have to replace the board underneath mousepad.

Can't right or left click on inspirion 1501, touchpad is fine.

It would appear that the left/right touch pad buttons have failed. You will have 3 options at this point in time.
1) Use an external wireless mouse such as a Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 for roughly $39.99
2) Use alternative features on the laptop. Left click is typically simulated by tapping or double tapping the touch pad itself and right click can be simulated, in most cases, by single tapping the icon and pressing the pop-up menu button, typically located between the right alt and ctrl buttons.
3) Search for a replacement component online and replace the component. Touch pad replacement will require you to remove all casing screws from the laptop and then remove the case. You will then expose the screws and cabling for the touch pad. I can not give more detailed instructions as this varies per laptop model.

I have a dell inspiron 1501 and the mouse buttons won't work - I have to use the touch pad to do everything. How do I fix this problem myself?

If it's an wireless optical mouse, make sure the battery isn't dead. You can also take it apart and clean the dust out as well. You also might have to reinstall the driver, which you can do by going to the Control Panel, Mouse, Hardware, and selecting Properties. If it came with a CD, reinstall it using that. I accidently deleted it before. Though I'm a little foggy on how exactly I figured it out. Try these steps first though.

Hi I have a Dell inspiron and I can't get the right click button to work

In dell computers there is diagnostic... You can run the diag by pressing the FN key and turning the computer on.. It will run a small test then select custom test and choose mouse... Then you can check the working of the mouse.. If its not working there please contact dell and replace it.. If it works then reinstall the touchpad drivers from the dell website... The issue will be fixed...

Windows keep popping up

I've had this happen to me by accident once and a while. if it's many months then possibly re-installing the touchpad drivers (or updating them) would help.
You can also adjust mouse settings in the control panel, found in my computer on the left side of the window.
Hope this helps a little, It does sound like the buttons are sticky. be sure to rate! :)
