SOURCE: hdd error

try replacing the red sata cable which runs from the HDD under the DVD drive to the main board on the right-hand side. these are a common problem on these models, there cheap and unreliable. you can purchase a better quality cable from a computer store for little money. HDD ERROR is'nt necessery an HDD fault as i found out with my rdr-hx525. if however the HDD is faulty and you buy a replacement, once installed you will need to pair the new HDD with the unit by entering the service mode by unplugging the AC then while holding down open/close and play together then re-insert the AC lead while still holding open/close and play and wait until you see an "S" in the display then let go and the service mode will appear on the tv screen. go to no.9 HDD mode, press enter then go to no.3 Write ID then it will say "execute write ID?" yes and press enter and then it will say "writing HDD serial ID.... OK" once this is done, exit the service mode by keeping your finger on the power button for approx 10secs. your DVD recorder should now recognise the new HDD. if you don't follow this process, you will still have an HDD error message as your DVD recorder will have your old HDD installed and won't recognise your new one. given the amount of time since you posted this fault, you may still have the unit in question in which case i hope this solution is helpful, or for anyone else with the same problem.

SOURCE: HDD Error

Since my last post, I have rectified the problem.....

1) I opened the unit to find a seagate HDD
2) I downloaded the Seatools in dos format and burned the image on to a cd rom
3)Taking out the HDD from my recorder,I hooked it up to another pc and ran the seatools disk @ bootup.
I tried for 2 hrs to repair the bloody thing ( 160 gb!) so i gave up and tried to erase the full HDD...which worked.
4) on my laptop i navigated to Pioneers site and found my recorder along with instructions and a zip file that contained 2 files.
5)After reading the destructions erm i mean instructions ;) I put the HDD back into the recorder and followed the instructions again..

Crossing my fingers i turned the recorder back on and to my amazement i was able to have more functionality..BUT... it says my HDD name error so I ran the disk again and wallah! all worked XDDDD

Here are the links

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/content/support/support/update/DVR.html check if your model is there.

0xc000007b error windows 7

Hard drive or data error. Try and run chkdsk/f
Generally just running chkdsk/f will fix this error. its normally down to bad sectors on a failing hdd corrupting data.
if your hdd shows more than 1% errors get it replaced as its failing. if its just the odd soft error then full formatting. may solve the problem if chkdsk/f doesn't.

My dell inspiron 5620 wont go further a black error recovery screen

Shut down, unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot, Try a system restore/recovery. If that fails, place a repair desk in the DVD/CD rom and reboot from DVD/CD rom, try a repair my computer first. Your MBR is missing or your HDD needs replacing. Is the HDD LED blinking at start of machine? Open the machine and reseat the HDD and memory mods. If that fails, remove HDD and test, replace if necessary. You didn't mention your OS? Windows XP? This may help: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp/f/download-windows-xp.htm

Yes, better replace the hard drive. because even if you try and run a repair and work it will fail in the future. to keep your data safe i suggest that you replace your HDD now.
