Question about Toshiba 36AF43 36" TV

1 Answer

Slightly slanted screen/picture

My television's picture has become slightly slanted.  The top left corner of a picture drops down about 1/2" to 3/4" and shakes.  From here, it tapers off towards the upper right corner of the screen, but still shakes somewhat all along the top of the screen.  On the bottom of the picture, there is a much smaller line, beginning on the right side of the screen that also is very shaky and slanted.  In turn, if a movie or show is a "widescreen", it is quite obvious that the picture is slanted down and to the left; following with the slant of the screen.  Is there any troubleshooting tips you could offer for this problem?  Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Tilted picture

You must be placing the TV near something Magnetic, Speakers, etc. This would account for the green in the corners. The tilted picture is most likely the yoke in the set has moved during rough handling. The first issue can be fixed with a degausssing coil, the second requires a technician to manually realign the yoke assebly and perform a convergence on the set.

Tv picture

The adjustment is done by opening the TV back cover, the part that looks like a cone(YOKE) that is mounted at the back of the picture tube needs to be slightly rotate it. To do this you will need to loose the screw that is holding that part and rotate it left or right.
Before doing this, unplug the TV from the main AC power.
Hope this helps.

Slanting Picture

The yoke has probably come loose and tilted.. From the rear of the set looking on the back of the crt you'll find a copper wire wound magnet called the yoke. It terminates on the neck of the yoke with a clamp. With the set off slightly loosen the clamp and turn the yoke assembly in the opposite direction - key word here is slightly - and apply power to check the alignment.
Keep doing this until you achieve the alignment you want. And always remember to unplug the set between attempts.

Picture slants right to left

Hope you have fixed this problem by now, if that tv is unserviced, I mean if nobody has ever opened it, it could be a problem with the positioning of your tv, just tilt the tv in different positions and find out the position in which it will show the right fit. If it is serviced, especially yoke is changed, this is rare, it could be because the position of yoke is not aligned properly.

Slanted picture

Your deflection yoke (a coil around the neck of the picture tube) must have gotten turned. Your can turn the picture upside down by rotating this coil. If your set is in warranty, you should return it. When this "yoke" is adjusted the color is affected too. If you try this yourself you'd void the warranty and mess up your color. Stargazer

Sony kv-32hv600 picture problems

Problem 1. Color patches at lower corners. These are caused by magnetic sources close to the TV. Do you have any Speakers close to the sides of the TV? Are they Magnetically sheilded? No? Move them away from the TV. Problem should then resolve itself in a couple of days. Problem2. Screen Slumping. Most likely a problem with the Pin cushion correction ckts. Get a good technician to have look. cost should not be much. Under 100$ plus Technician fees.
