SOURCE: CD tray doesn't open

if the unit actually tries to open but does not, it is not locked. a locked unit does not even try to open. it sound like a mechanical misalignment. take it back to get a new one, since it's only 2 days old.

SOURCE: Emerson MS9700 CD Shelf System - CD Tray won't open

You have to unscrew the whole thing and take the whole metal covering off and then the inner tray will be displayed and then you can just take the CDs out and then screw the cover back on. Happened to me, and that worked :]

SOURCE: Emerson MS9700 CD Shelf System - CD Tray won't open

I had the same exact problem.  When I opened it up, I found that a small rubber-band in the tray opening mechanism has slipped off.  While it was a simple problem, I caused more trouble by breaking a small switch while I was opening it, so be careful if you do decide to open it up.

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

I have a burned CD in the CD drawer and I can't retreive it, I can't find the button to open the door. Somewhere there is a button" OPEN DOOR" but I can't locate it.

Cd is stuck in changer

Go to an authorised personal as cd cannot be taken out without opening the system if you want to do it yourself just make sure you are a trained personal ...open the system with the help of screw driver and locate the cd bay inside it ....press a lever located just below the tray which slides out actually that is the manual eject lever ..now the tray is free just puss it out and remove the disk...

Cd door will not open

same thing happened to me. turn the system off, unplug it. then back on and after you switch to CD mode (for some reason the CD tray will not eject unless in CD mode), once the system tries to lock on to a specific CD tray, hold the eject button down for 5 seconds. that worked for me. may have been dumb luck but can't hurt.

DVD Eject tray stuck

I took a stake knife from the kitchen and pried open the tray door as I hit the eject button this got it to open, I then cycled eject and close, eject close a few times and this did the trick, I even played a DVD and that worked fine also. I had the problem with the tray not opening, and the display would read OPEN when I hit eject and I could hear it trying to open. So I wanted to make sure the tray wasn't just stuck or wedged before I took the system apart and looked for sripped out plastic gears or the belt being broken. GoodLuck rayruiz10@yahoo.com

This is an easy fix if you are somewhat handy.... The belt for the door/tray is slipping. If you remove the enclosure and face plate, you will see two motors below the disc drive. Press eject while observing the pulley to the left. You should see the problem with the motor shaft spinning and the belt slipping. Replacing the belt is possible without any further dissassembly. Simply bend some light wire into an L shape and you should be able to hook both pulleys and lace the new belt on. As far as obtaining a new belt I decided to do the simple thing and use a slightly smaller rubber band. The repair has held now for almost three months and the player is used everyday. Good luck.

Cd doors don't open and Errors 1 and 4

I had the same problem with my CMT-EP707. I read on this site to try various combinations of turning power off then turning the power back on while holding down either or both of the stop play button and the eject button for the affected CD tray. What seemed to work for me was turning on the power while holding down the eject button for CD tray 2, even though the error referred to CD tray 1.
