I, too, was searching for that wonderful Belgian Waffle recipe and thought, no problem, I'll just look on-line. I couldn't believe it when Salton didn't have it posted on their site (if they did, I couldn't find it) and was taken to your requests for the recipe. So, I went the whole mile, or should I say traveled over mountains of files, and couldn't believe that my filing system still works after all of these years, the Salton Belgian Waffle Maker & Recipe Guide for Model No. WM-4 was right where it was supposed to be. (And my husband, and prior bosses I should add, have laughed at how I save and file everything. I'm glad I can share this with you all now...

Basic Belgian Waffle Recipe
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg, separated
1/2 tbl butter, melted
-Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl
-Add egg yolk and milk to the dry ingredients and beat together thoroughly.
-Beat egg white until stiff, stir 1/4 into batter to lighten it and then gently fold in the remaining egg white.
-Pour a scant 1/2 cup of batter onto the heated waffle mold. The light should be off. When batter is added, the light will go on. When the light goes off again, the waffle is done.
-Makes about 6 waffles.

Chocolate Waffles ("which make great ice cream sandwiches," says the recipe book.)
1 cup all purpose flour

2 tsp sugar
2/3 cup milk
1 egg, separated
2 Tbl melted butter
1 1/2 squares semi-sweet chocolate (1 1/2 ounces)
3/4 tsp vanilla
-Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl
-Add milk, egg yolk, and vanilla to dry ingredients and beat until well blended.
-Melt butter and chocolate together in microwave or double boiler. Stir chocolate mixture into batter.
-Beat egg white until stiff, stir 1/4 into the batter to lighten it and then gently fold in the remaining egg white.
-Pour a scant 1/2 cup of batter onto the heated heart waffle mold. (Hmm, the WM-4 isn't shaped into a heart??? Oh well, moving onward...)
-Makes about 6 waffles

Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar or cinnamon or topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Plug it in, and wait for light to go off..

When light is off, pour (aprox) 1/4 cup batter on each of the 2 (of the 4) waffle panels on the bottom surface. Close lid; then, per manual, wait about 90 seconds. The light may flicker on/off while baking but disregard. You may experiment with different times by observing "steam" from coming out of baking area.
Remove waffles with a plastic spatula (as knives may scratch the non stick coating)

When cleaning, power unit off.. Do not immerse unit in water. Wipe down with a soapy/damp cloth.

I tried using non stick spray and it seemed to make them "soggy"; it also required up to 2 mins (used a "sand timer") then flipped waffles, then another 2mins..

I have a pizzelle maker when do I know the right time to open & pour batter and when it is ready to be removed without burning

Some irons have one light that indicates that the heating element is on. I think that the Saulton iron has two lights. One light indicates that the iron is plugged in. The second light indicates that the heating element is on. You should wait until the second light goes off before trying to bake the first pizzelle. The second light will turn on and off as the thermostat regulates the heat. The cooking time depends on the pizzelle iron that you use. A good iron can bake a pizzelle in 30 seconds. The Salton iron WM8PZL takes up to 90 seconds for each cycle. Check the pizzelles after 30 seconds. The first pizzelles are seldom good. Experiment with the baking times to get the baking time right. After that keep up a steady pace to produce consistent results.
Early pizzelle irons were heated over open fires and made good pizzelles so with some practice you will be able to make pizzelles too.

You are out of luck as this is an old problem the season is long past.
I am fairly shure that Toastmaster no longer makes this Pizzelle iron. A better solution is an American made Pizzelle Iron by C.Palmer
Built like a tank and will probably outlast you. I wouldn't buy a non stick appliance from anyone as the coating is easily damaged.
