I'm replacing an electric cooktop with a gas cooktop and have some questions.
1) I bought the gas cooktop used off of Craigslist. I didn't come with a pressure regulator and I'm not sure if I need one (I'm on natural gas). Some people say that natural gas is regulated at the meter and so it's unnecessary, while other insist it is necessary. If it is, do I have to pay $75 for the OEM part or can I get a generic replacement at HomeDepot?
2) As far as running the pipe, I understand that HomeDepot will thread the pipe I buy there, but what about where I tap in to tee off of the existing pipe? Do I need to thread the pipe for that or are there non-threaded fittings for stuff like that?
Hi, I can get you the regulator for $66.95. The part would have to be ordered. Yes it does need the regulator. I'm sorry but there are no generic regulators for this and for the safety of your family, you do not want to cut corners if possible. Yes you will need a threaded T to connect to existing pipe. Please let me know if I can assist you further with the [art.
THanks

Okay, thanks.
So how to you install a threaded T into an existing pipe? Will I have to reconnect everything downline from the T?
