Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

3 Answers

I have a canon pixma ip90v printer (my second one, first one did the exact same thing). My black ink prints very streaked, so much that you cant read it. It is intermittant, every 3 lines or so. I have changed the cartridge, cleaned and deep cleaned, aligned the print head over and over again, still the same thing. I am ready to throw it out and get a different brand. Should I try to change the print head (which is costly,as is taking it to a repair person)I only have this about 3 months, bought new, but on ebay, so canon wont honor the warranty. Is this a commom problem with this printer? I like the compact size of this for traveling. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

I cant remove the print head.....apparently I dont know how to do it. it wont budge. this printer is only 3 months old, but I do ALOT of printing. shouldn't the print head last longer than that? thanks again.

can you give me the instructions for removing the print head? I bought this printer NEW on ebay, but canon will not honor the warranty because of the ebay purchase. If I could remove the print head, I can replace it myself, but it seems "stuck" and I can't budge it. thanks for the help

ok, i'm confused. when I bought this printer, I had to install the print head, and all I did was snap it into place. Maybe we aren't talking about the same thing?? I dont mean the ink cartridges.

the manual says to see a "canon customer service representative" for print head solutions, which I think is just a money making scheme. someone must know how to remove this print head...any help is appreciated. thanks

Can anyone tell me how to remove the print head from a canon pixma ip90v printer? when I purchased it, the print head just "popped in", but I can seem to figure out how to get it back out to change it. any help is appreciated. thanks connie

Do you know if the ink "brand" plays a part in this? I usually use canon ink when I can, but I do sometimes use a compatable "off brand". I don't think this should matter, but perhaps it does? In any case, I would like to replace the print head myself, but I can't remove it?????????

Hello. I solved my own problem and discovered how to remove the print head for the canon ip90v printer.

Power the printer on. Lift the cover. Press the resume button until the carriage moves to the right center. Only then will you see the button to release the print head. Once you press the button, it basically lifts right out, simple!! If you don't press the reset button and move the carriage to the right, you can't see the release button.

I removed the carriage and rinsed the print head with cold water for a long time. Then I dried it with a hair dryer, replaced it and then went through all of the steps again. Works great! In the mean time, I ordered a new print head, so now I will have an extra one on hand. It cost me $45.00 on ebay for a genuine canon print head.

I really like this printer because it is so compact and I travel alot, so it fits just what I need.

I did google "how to remove the print head", but couldn't find any info on it except to "get canon service".

Thanks to all who tried helping me, it's appreciated!!

This sound like a printer hardware problem, the printer head is probably the rat for this one. Try to use your printer on two different computers. If it produces the same problem, then you probably need to replace the printer head. I suggest that you just find yourself another brand if this had happened to you twice already. replacing the printer head would probably cost you half the printer's price already...

I have no clue how to dismantle the ip90v printer head. you might want to search the net for instructions. I have tried to look for one but am unable to find any. If you don't really know how to change the head, its probably better to just have someone do it for you. If the price of the printer head + technician fee is near to the price of a new printer. its probably better if you just get a new one. And yes, using replacement ink does matter. Make sure that you use the same ink type. for example, if the ink type for your printer is dye based. use dye based replacement ink too..

Hi, the problem is the printer head, this part needs replacing and is a common problem with the canon printers. changing this should solve your problem.

there is probably some factory defect with the printers head.

the printer's head will be screwed on with the star shape screws. you will need specialized screwdrivers to remove it.

Canon pixma ip90v waste ink absorber is almost full . please help me to resolve this problem

It's not a problem, just a fact of life. The old ink has to go somewhere and when the drain pack is full you need a shop to replace and access the service mode to reset the counter. It involves removing all the top covers, lifting out the print engine and replacing the drainpack.

Replacing the drain pack assembly in the Canon Pixma IP90v

You need to remove the top cover, battery holder, shield assembly, power connector, lift the print engine slide out the drain pack and slide in a new one. After re assembly you need to get into service mode and reset the waste ink counter. Simple when you know what you're doing, 30 to 45 minute job.

It's the Black Stripe thing When you begin a printing job a 1/2" wide streak of black ink is on the back side of each pieceof paper Canon iP5200R

You need a new ink absorber kit with a guard sheet to stop ink from coming up from the bottom and getting on the exit rollers. It's a major job to remove the print engine and a messy one. Best done in repair shop..
