SOURCE: No Sound In Home Theater with Dish HDTV DVR Dual Mode Remote Connection

I have a high definition Polaroid tv which I bought in 2007. I have it connected to Dish tv. It worked fine at first. Now when I use the Dish tv remote, the television won't power up. The red light, which appears when the television is off turns blue when I attempt to turn the tv on, but the screen stays black. Why won't the television come on anymore?

SOURCE: no sound though home theater when watching tv

There is an orange button on the remote, half way down in the middle. I belive it has orange lettering and says something like "TV-?" press that, and the sound should start to come through your speaker system. You can then use the original remote that came with your TV and turn the sound off on the TV to use just the theatre system. I noticed that if you use the TV speakers in conjunction with the theatre system, that it echo's.

SOURCE: home theater system jvc th-d60

This is from the TH-D50 User Manual:

The connected TV is not HDCP-compatible. (“HDCP ERR” appears on the display.)
Disconnect the HDMI cable and connect it again, or use a shorter cable.

SOURCE: How to extend speaker cables of Philips MX6050D DVD Home Theater

Go down to your local RadioShack or any place that sells wire of any sorts (heck, even Walmart might carry it now) and ask them for speaker wire. I'm not sure what the impedance of this particular model is, but you should be able to find it printed on the back of the speakers, or in your user's manual. This guide will help you to identify what size speaker wires you need, that way when you go in looking for speaker wire, you'll at least sound like you know what you're doing.

Home Theater System is stuck in "starting" mode

I don't see the starting mode described in the user's manual, so I don't know if the buttons on the remote work or not, but you if they do you can try to reset to restore the default settings. Press the Home button, Select Set up and then press oK. Select Advance - Restore Default Settings and then press OK. Select OK and the press OK to confirm.
Also you might want to check if you can if the software is up to date. Compare the version of your current software with the latest version on the Phillips website.

How can i make the tv play through the speakers

Source the TV-related sound (probably from the cable box, huh?) as if it is an external audio device, which it IS. The TV need not be a part of the audio path. Some of us have monitors without speakers. It doesn't seem to be a show-stopper.

My Philips LX3600D returns always to stand-by mode

The speaker cables for the LX3600D are: (+) is blank, whereas (-) has slightly shaded bands along it. Once you see these bands its easy to open up the connector and check they are the correct way around.
