SOURCE: For the ID Armor ID-XC200D, where should I place

You don't use liquid oil. At the office supply stores they carry oil sheets that you insert just like shredding something. They come ion various pkgs. Staples and Office Depot stores carry them. They are universal, no model number needed. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have an ID Armor

Hi there,

I think it is necessary for you to take it apart. Is your shredder designed to handle plastics such as CDs? Try these steps and see if it will do you any good.

Unplug the paper shredder. Empty the shreds from the collection bin. Pull as much stuck material as possible from the top and bottom of the shredder blades with pliers. Look for small debris from the CD which may be stuck inside the shredding/feed mechanism.

Place the paper shredder back on the collection bin base and plug the shredder back in. Rock the shredding direction back and forth between forward and reverse. Pull on the jammed pieces as the shredder shifts between directions.

Run the shredder in reverse continuously once the paper jam is cleared. Make two passes across the cutting blades while drizzling synthetic shredder oil. Switch the direction to forward to run continuously for one minute.

Lower two sheets of clean paper into the shredder. The paper removes excess oil, metal fragments and debris from the cutting blades. Blast the blades with compressed air when you notice a build-up of small plastic scraps that may cause a jam.

If the cleaning failed and your shredder still wont start. You need to have the shredder serviced as the damage may have extend to cause a mechanical failure on the device.

Hope this helps.

Where can i buy parts for my id armor shredder

Your question, while it does state "parts," doesn't specify which parts. The reason why my answer isn't going to tell you, is because the "parts" can vary from the safety flap all the way to the motor that drives the shredder blades.
My suggestion is that you find where you can be eco-friendly with the shredder's disposal and purchase a new one. If you are looking for a part that has anything to do with the workings of the shredder (blades, on/off switch, paper sensor motor), you are going to wind up spending almost as much as a new one would cost and perhaps even more. Plus you have to take into consideration, the time you would spend doing the repairs; surely your time is worth at least $10 an hour. You are most likely going to spend too much time making the repair. Believe me, I tried to fix one once (it was successful, just the "bellows" that expands to change the setting of the "normally off" micro-switch back to off) and it took me a couple of hours.
Purchase a new one and forget about "saving" money by doing the repair yourself.

Wont turn on

If you can lift the cutting head up from the waste bin
It maybe that the shredder cutters are jammed. Unplug from mains, and lift off top and place upside down. Use a small screwdriver and/or long nosed pliers and poke at any compressed paper wrapped around the blades - can take a while.
Give a quick spray to cutters with WD40 Replace - turn on - and run in reverse.
If all else fails, contact the maker

Won't turn off after shredding in automatic mode

This means that sensor located in the middle of feed opening has been jammed in down position. To clear this sensor arm you can try shredding strip of thick cardboard, but running it through in the very centre of the feed opening. Failing that clear the jammed paper using tweezers in addition to that you could soak the blockage between rollers with WD-40 or some lubricant. Give it a good soak, once paper softened and loosened complete clearing jam with tweezers. Your unit will operate like a dream!! Good luck

Why is my ID Armor ID-XC200D making a horrible noise when I shred?

kkrenn641:

That "horrible noise" is probably caused by the shredder gears meshing improperly. If you disassemble it again and look carefully at the gears, you will most likely see that some are not mating properly... Usually the motor gear and the first idler gear that meshes with the motor gear. If those two gears seem to be separated a bit, or slightly mis-aligned look carefully at where the motor mounts, and you may see that the plastic "bed" where the motor is mounted has melted from heat from the motor. This is caused by using the shredder too long without letting the motor cool down. You may be able to shim the motor housing to realign the gears, if you have the patience!

1050lbkx, I put too many pages in. It jammed. I removed most of the pages and now it won't move and screeches.

If it has a reverse switch try cycling forward and backward some.
Get some WD-40 and spray that into the teeth. Let it sit for a while then try cycling it again.
Worst case, if it has soft gears, the over-taxing of the motor might have stripped or damaged the gears.

I have a ID Armor 15-Sheet Cross Cut Shredder.. The problem is it runs constantly on the auto position.. I cleaned the paper eye with canned air & swabs but it still runs all the time.. Can you suggest...

lots of shredders having problems like this. Easy way is to turning off the machine when you don't use it. Harder way is to disassemble it and clean everything you can. Maybe you will have to replace a sensor with new one. You have to spend some money:(

Stopped working while i was using it

Mine does that when it jams, or overheats. Try toggling the switch between forward and reverse to clear any jam. If that doesn't work, you can unplug the unit, turn it over, and remove jammed paper with needle nose pliers. If there is no jam, try letting it cool for a while and then try in the reverse position.
