Most likly a bad capacittor on the little circuit board inside the unit. As it is thermosealed you cant open it without voiding the warranty. The repair however is fairly simple and anyone with rudamentary electronics experience can fix it for you. If you are still having problems let me know on [email protected]

3. Run an Updated using the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website
4. Run a Repair in Philips Device Manager

when this unit gets stuck on screen usually caused by not safely removing hardware from computer. in that mode you press power and vol + button at same time for a couple seconds and will reset. sofware available through philips website: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=HDD060/17&slg=AEN&searchtxt=HDD0

Could be corrupt firmware.

Install and run Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

Select the Repair / Restore option.

Press and hold [VOL+] on the player whilst connecting to the PC, and follow the on-screen prompts.
