What is your coolant to water ratio? If you have too much water your system may have froze. If so let it thaw and hope it didn't crack anything in your cooling system.

2012 Chevrolet Malibu. I ran through a puddle of water and now have no power to the starter?

Question edited for clarity/spelling, wrong 'threw', wrong 'know'.
Question moved to model category.

Interesting diagnostics on the second video., probably not relevant to your issue, but then again, a quick douse in cold water could crack that bus wire if it was hot. It also shows how good auto electricians are.

We have a 98 Malibu that turns over but won't start.I was told it might be the fuel pump.If I use a diagnostic meter, will a code show for a bad fuel pump?

A bad fuel pump will not necessarily show a code. If you have a throttle body try spraying a little bit of starter fluid into it. Then try to start the car. If you have it will be under under the air cleaner cover and kind of looks like a conventional carbureator. If it starts with starter fluid and then dies you have a bad fuel pump, or clogged fuel filter. The fuel pump will be in the fuel tank. Im not sure where your fuel filter would be.

I have a 98 Chevy Malibu. When the engine is cold it starts and idles fine but as it warms up the rpm's surge when I come to a stop (say a light or stop sign). If I turn it off and try to restart it...

YEP COULD BE EGR VALVE STUCK OPEN BUT YOU WOULD GET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WARNING.YOU COULD HAVE BAD GAS OR NEW REPLACE FUEL FILTER AND AIR FILTER CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS SEE IT THAT HELPS.

2000 chevy malibu stalls out while driving and would cut off once the car has started and when it does start the idle would be at a three i was told it was a remote sensor

ITS ACTUALLY a cold start issue There are several things that few people know about starting cars in cold weather. 1. Check your battery to make sure it is not rusted, leaking, and has a charge 2. Jump start your battery with another car, even if you believe the battery is good, this often times will still start your car. 3. If your engine is cold, and you have an older car, ensure to get your fuel lines to the engine flushed or have fuel injection service performed 4. The engine tends to warp the same way wood does during the extreme cold, do not be afraid to continue trying to warm up the engine by constant cranks with it is cold out. Your not going to hurt the car, the worse that could happen is too much fuel will enter the carborator and cause flooding in the system to occur. Wait 20 minutes if this happens and start to crank again 5. Bad spark plugs are a major reason why many cars take a very long time to start 6. Please have your spark plugs removed and exchanged for new ones. Over time, spark plugs become fowled and prevent the car from starting even thou you hear cranking!!!

98 chevy malibu wont start when cold outside. I replaced the battery and the ignition control module. I don't know what else it could be.

if you are mostly having trouble with cold weather,i would check the engine temp sensor,it tells the computer how cold your engine is so in the morning the computer will increase fuel like an old carb with a choke
