Tip

Bissel Carpet Cleaner Won't Dispense Water

"My Bissel carpet cleaner has little to no spray action".

This is a common problem and here are some Trouble Shooting solutions. If your machine is only dispensing a little bit of water, or none at all, then:

1. The bladder may be empty- Turn power off, remove tank and refill.

2. The lent screen may be clogged- Clean out the lent screen.

3. Tank-In-Tank may not be seated properly- Turn power off; remove tank and reseat tank.

4. The pump belt may be broken- If so, replace with a new one. The belt can usually be accessed through a belt access door on the top-side of your machine.

Here is a Link that will help in your search for the right belt:

Worked fine. Then I refilled water/soap tank, now there is no suction.

The most common reason for lack of pick up is that the lid is not fully seated on the dirty water tank. Be sure to hook the two tabs on the front of the lid, and then snap the rear latch into place. Another reason is that the duct on the front of the dirty water tank is missing. The duct may have been removed to install the hose, and was not put back in place. It is a square plastic piece, about the size of a slice of sandwich bread, which slides into the front of the tank. A far less common reason for no pick-up is that the seal that the tank sits on has fallen off the motor cover suction tube. You will see a round tube on the bottom of the dirty water tank. This sits on top of a large rubber seal on the motor cover when the tank is in place. Be sure the seal has not fallen down into the hood.

Not putting out water

Hello,

Here's some trouble shooting tips that will help you figure out what's wrong with your Bissell Little Green Machine, and why the water won't spray out. You didn't mention how old the machine was, but if the machine is brand new, and you've never used this before, then you'll need to prime the machine for the first time.

To prime the Little Green Machine, remove the hose after filling the clean water tank, and press and hold the trigger on the hose for approximately 45 seconds. This will prime the pump, and get the water flowing.

If the machine is older, and you've already been using it, here's some other troubleshooting tips that you can do to try and fix the machine:

9c4a1a7.jpg

Step 1. Fill the clean water solution tank with water, and remove it from the machine. With the tank removed, press the piston at the end of the tank that fits into the machine. The piston is the spring loaded part in the top of the water tank that is pressed upwards when the trigger is squeezed, which in turn releases water into the machine. Press the piston inwards with your finger and see if water comes out.

Step 2. If water is released from the tank when you push the piston inwards, then your piston and cap assembly are fine. Next unscrew the cap to the clean water tank and make sure that the o-ring is present. This is the rubber ring that rests in between the cap and the tank.

Step 3. If your o-ring is not there, you'll need to purchase a new a new o-ring and replace it. If the o-ring is present, screw the cap back onto the tank. Inspect the receiver to make sure there is no debris blocking it. The receiver is the part on the machine that the tank sits on top of. If you see debris here, remove any debris that could be obstructing the tanks piston.

Step 4. After checking these three things, refill the tank with water, reinsert back into the machine and test to see if the water now comes out. If the water does not come out, move on to step 5.

Step 5. Unscrew the two screws on the handle of the hose, and remove the cover that the two screws secure.

Step 6. After removing the hose cover, inspect the hose that connects to the trigger assembly for blockages:

Step 7. If blockages are found, remove the tube from the trigger, and blow through the hose to remove any blockages, and reinstall the tube back onto the trigger.

Step 8. Reinstall the trigger assembly so that the metal spring's curved side is facing down so that it touches the trigger valve:

Step 8. After reassembling the hose, turn the machine on again and try spraying the hose again.

If none of these solutions fixed your machine, this most likely indicates that you need to replace your pump. The pump is the internal part that takes the water from the tank, through the hose, and finally sprays it out. The pump replacement is a moderately difficult repair, but if you'd like me to walk you through it, I'd be more then happy to do so.

Please feel free to ask any follow up questions, or let me know if you'd like for me to show you how to replace the pump. I'm always more then happy to answer any question that you may have.

If you found this helpful, please kindly rate my repair helpful so that other Fixya users with the same problem can easily find this solution. By rating the repair you are also encouraging repair professionals to continue posting free repairs. Thanks in advance,

Chris J.

I have never used a shampooer before when I use it it says to empty out dirty water. I don't have any left. My tank is empty. Am I doing something wrong.

Suggest that you do the following.
Remove the TOP ("Clean water") tank. Fill it 1/2 full of water. Put the top on the clean water tank and place it back on the machine.

Release the machine handle and remove the cover of the "dirty" water tank. Inspect the back of the tank to be sure that the vacuum adapter in located in the rear of the dirty water tank. If not-that is your problem. If yes, restore the top to the dirty water tank.

Power the machine on.
On a kitchen floor, power the machine on. Pull the trigger and hold it for about 30 seconds. You should see water gathering around the brushes. If not, that is a problem.

With water around the brushes, release and lower the handle and and move the machine over the water. It should vacuum the water into the dirty water tank.
Is all of that happening?

My Scooba floor cleaner "check tank" light stays on even after it's refilled and everything cleaned but still will not work. It just keeps beeping at me when I try to start it. How do I reset it or get...

Flush out the solution valve with water (aka "prime the pump"). Use water, not just air, because water will clear any obstructions that may be in the lines. Also, rinse your tank through the four ports on the *underside*-- one round, two oval, one large and curved, all four in a row. Rinse them really thoroughly with warm water, then refill the tank and try the Scooba again. If it doesn't work, call us: 1-877-855-8593.

Pump prime lost

After further examination of the pump I re-installed it in the machine and removed the inlet hose from the mixer valve body and placed the end in a shallow pan of water. I turned the machine on and the pimp picked up the water from the pan and pumped without failure for several minutes as I had the pump output refilling the same pan.
If I take the end of the inlet hose out of the pan for only a couple of seconds, the pump loses prime and will not recover until I remove the vacuum hose from the pump. Upon replacing the vacuum hose the pump primes and begins working.
At that point I suspected an air leak at the base of the water tank or somewhere in the mixer valve assembly. I then took the hose off of the tank fitting in the base and placed the end of the hose in the pan of water. Again, the pump performed without any problem. Therefore, I assume I have an air leak at the base of the tank where the tank connects to the machine.
I will explore this further and provide you with additional info as I make progress

Steamvac quit spraying

Check the seal that the clean water tank sits on, may have come loose. The filter inside the dirty water tank has been pushed up too far, needs to have a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.
