MacBook Screen Repair

My Macbook laptop's screen has lots of vertical colored lines on it, but only on the middle, and is 1/2 inch in width across the screen. Next to these vertical lines is a 1 1/2 inch space of blurriness. Everything else is working absolutely fine! The windows are opening up, the wireless is workin, messenger, programs, etc... eveyrthing is working with the exception of the lines and blurry space!! What happened was that I was putting my brother's weights in the stands so that nobody falls on them. I was on the last weights and the Macbook was lying close to the spot where I was picking them up and it slipped my hand and fell on the laptop while it was closed. It was 2 pound weight and it didnt fall from a great distance but a measliy 6 inches... Now when I opened the laptop, this is what happened. I desperately need help because I really have to fix it because I have never broken any of things in my life and I feel really guilty about destrying his Macbook.. please, if any of you experienced experts know how to fix it, it will be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!

Well dont fret, sounds like you need a new screen. has them the cheapest ive found. replacing them does take time and alot of screws but is doable.
check out for instructions on replacing the screen for your specfic model. please take care when replacing the screen, there are alot of small part and screws. be sure to work at a clean table and make sure you have a couple hours to do it all at once. I did mine in two days and ended up with 7 extra screws when i was done :)

Colorful lines usually represent video problems. You will need to take your iMac to an Apple certified repair store to have it fixed. It's an advanced job that can only be done with the help of special equipment.
Good luck.

Vertical lines that are shading the screen of my macbook pro

Most likely a broken screen. If the lines change when you twist the screen, defintely a broken screen. If you want to replace it yourself, there are Mac Repair Guides that show how to open a Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.

Not really. LCDs are very fragile - far more so than the manufacturers of MacBooks and PCs would have us all believe. The only remedy is to get a new one fitted.

Screen lines on MacBook.

Sounds like dropped pixels.  My first guess is the computer has been dropped on its corner, with the pixel dropout radiating diagonally from the corner.
My saint bernard sat on my g3 lombard, and I have vertical pixel dropout because of it, from the top of the screen to the bottom.
And no, it is not normal for a macbook to have lines across the screen.
