My radio system was somehow reset. To turn it on requires enter code but I am the second owner and did not set up a code

You need to take your registration papers with your licence (licence is to prove YOU own the car) to a car dealer ie: Holden, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler and ask at the sales office for the SECURITY CODES FOR YOUR CAR, You'll receive your BCM security number, Car key number-Ignition, Radio security pin number and Radio serial number. These numbers belong to YOUR car and once you have them DON'T loose them because in Australia some dealers charge a fee and some don't.... Hope this helped....CHEERS..

Tip

How to Enter a Renault Radio Code

This tip deals with instructions on how to enter the security code in your Renault car radio and assumes that you already have the correct code for your radio. It also describes what to do if your radio will not accept a code after too many incorrect entries and appears to be locked.<br /><br />
If you happen need a code for your Renault Radio I can also recommend this site which is cheap, fast and accurate and will email or text the code directly to you.

1) You must have 0000 showing on the display before the radio will accept the code.<br /> <br />If CODE or ERROR is on the display you must leave the radio switched on with the key turned to the first point in the ignition that activates the radio until the display changes to 0000.<br /> <br />This can take over an hour depending on how many wrong code entries have been made. It is very important to leave the key in the ignition turned to the accessories on position and the power must not be interrupted or the wait period will be reset and start all over again.<br /> <br />2) When you get 0000 on the display, use the steering stalk and <b><u>not</u></b> the radio to enter the code. Turn the thumbwheel on the stalk until the number changes on the display. Accept each number by pressing the satellite button on the bottom of the stalk before moving on to the next one.<br /> <br />3) When all four numbers are entered on the display you must press and hold the button on bottom of the stalk until you hear a confirmation beep. This may take up to 10 seconds.<br /><br />4) Enjoy your sounds!<br /> <br />Hope this tip helps. Please do leave a vote for it and thanks for using FixYa.<br />

Need code for kdc-mp228 cd player

Common Kenwood Security Codes Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:
  • KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
  • 3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
  • 1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
Entering Your Kenwood Security Code If the car battery fails or is disconnected, the Kenwood will ask for the security code.
The procedure to enter your security code differs on various models of Kenwood car stereos. Here are three of the more common procedures:
Type 1
  • During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds until the "..." display disappears.
  • Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 2
  • Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear.
  • Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 3: Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
  • Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset keys until the display shows the letter 'C'.
  • Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Entering Letters on your Kenwood Remote To enter a letter using your Kenwood remote, press a button once for the first letter, twice for the second letter, and three times for the third letter -- then press the Track Up or Next Track key to send the letter.
To send the letter 'A', press the 2 key once and then press the Track Up key. To send the letter 'B', press the 2 key twice and then press the Track up key.
Finally, when you are done entering all of the letters, press and hold the Track Up button for 3 seconds.
The key sequence to enter the security code KCAR is:
  • 5
  • 5
  • Track Up
  • 2
  • 2
  • 2
  • Track Up
  • 2
  • Track Up
  • 7
  • 7
  • Track Up
Your Kenwood should then enter tuner mode.
A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.
In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.
Finding the Kenwood Security Code There are backdoor codes for each Kenwood car stereo, based upon the model and the serial numbers.
These backdoor codes are closely held secrets. Outfits like Car Audio Accessories UK will sell you the code for your radio for £20.
Sending Your RadioBack to Kenwood If all else fails, you can send your stereo back to Kenwood to have the security code reset.

Need to know how to program the code in to my 1993 bmw 740 I

The BMW anti-theft radio circuitry is designed to essentially render your radio unsalable if it is stolen. If the radio is subsequently electrically reconnected, it will not operate until a five-digit security code assigned to your radio is entered. The anti-theft features and operation are as follows:

  1. After the ignition key is removed, the red "anti-theft" LED will continuously flash, drawing attention to this feature.
  2. Should anyone, such as a thief, touch any push-button on the radio after the key is removed, the anti-theft inscription will flash and a warning tone will sound for 5 minutes or until the ignition is turned ON .
  3. Should the voltage supply to the radio drop below 5 volts due to a dead battery, electrical repairs, or radio removal (such as theft), the radio will not function when voltage is restored. The word "code" will show in the display only.
  4. The proper 5-digit code shown on the TWO CARDS SUPPLIED TO YOU must then be entered (using the proper number radio push-button selectors in the bottom row) when the radio is on and the display shows "code". If the correct code is not entered in three successive tries , the radio will not accept entry until the radio has been left on for one hour with the ignition ON . IMPORTANT: When entering 5-digit code number, be sure to complete sequence number of that 5-digit code. For example: Code No. sequence is 43215 and you mistakenly enter 42 instead of 3, continue the code number sequence of 215 to complete that entry. The radio will not operate and "code" will reappear in the display. Re-enter the correct number sequence of 43215 and operation of the radio will continue. The likelihood of guessing the correct code is extremely remote. The radio is, therefore, unsalable to a thief. NOTE: If an audible beep is heard while entering the 5-digit code, STOP immediately ! Begin entering the code again, starting with the first number of the 5-digit code.
  5. The code card should be placed in your wallet, or with the vehicle title papers for security as deemed necessary by your individual needs.
  6. Should radio or electrical repairs become necessary, please give the repairing facility the radio code number. If you do not, only authorized BMW dealer personnel can obtain the code from BMW.
  7. Should you lose your code cards, contact the nearest BMW dealer who will then obtain your code from BMW. You may be charged for removal of the radio to ascertain the radio chassis number.
  8. WARNING: FOR YOUR PROTECTION, CODES WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT TO ANYONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES OTHER THAN AUTHORIZED BMW DEALER PERSONNEL AFTER PROOF OF VEHICLE OWNERSHIP AND PROPER IDENTIFICATION IS ESTABLISHED.
  9. Install the 2 enclosed warning decals in accordance with motor vehicle regulations.

Volvo radio doesn't accept its own code

With a good battery in the car turn the ignition key to Position I. Do not put the key in position II. Make sure "OFF" is displayed. Let the car sit with the key in position I for about two hours. "CODE" will appear in the display. Enter your code.

Radio code

  1. CODE ENTRY: The proper five digit code for the radio is listed on the two cards supplied in the radio security envelope. After installation or when the radio requires reprogramming the word "code" will appear on the display screen. Enter the code by using the preset buttons numbered 1 through 5 . If a "beep" sound occurs when the code is initially entered, it is then necessary to re-enter the code starting with the first digit. The "beep" sound was provided to indicate the starting point for code entry. If the code has not been properly entered after three successive attempts , the radio will then not accept any entry until the radio has been left "ON" for one hour (vehicle ignition must be "ON"). After one hour in the "ON" position, the radio will then accept three additional entry attempts. Also, if a push-button is touched accidentally when the ignition is "OFF", a warning tone will sound. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position and the warning tone will stop.
  2. Radio security codes will not be given to anyone under any circumstance other than authorized jaguar dealer personnel after proof of vehicle ownership and proper identification has been established. A separate security envelope with the attached instruction is provided in each radio package. If the radio has been port installed, the security package will be placed in the vehicle glove box. NOTE: When the car arrives at the dealership, the radio will be in the inoperative mode even though it has already been installed. It is imperative that no attempts be made to install a tape cassette while the radio is in this mode. The cassette will not eject and damage may occur when removal is attempted.

Car radio pin code

Hi pat... bad news I'm afraid. You need to get the code from Eurovox. There is a way to change/defeat the code, but it involves having the thing apart on the bench and actually fitting a new memory chip to the radio that does not have a code. I used to do this if someone left a unit for repair and we were not left the code. I have cut and pasted the FAQ from Eurovox's site for you, Click the link to their code request form. There are also instructions on how to enter the code

And as always, the bastards charge for the info. Sorry I couldnt actually give you a code. I used to have charge $60 to recode a radio back in the day by rechipping it.

Why is my radio not working after the battery was disconnected/replaced?
The radio requires a security code to be entered. (also known as PIN number). A security code is either 4 or 6 numbers long for most of Eurovox Units.

How can I obtain my security code?
Download the Security Code Request form located in the Downloads section. Fill it out and send it in via fax or email with proof and payment. The serial number & model number of the piece of Eurovox equipment is essential. A new security code card will then be mailed to you and your details will be registered in our database.

Why does Eurovox charge for supplying a security code?
Security and administrative reasons. We enter your details in our database so if you lose it again you only have to identify yourself and give the serial number and we will give you the security code again, we also send you a new code card.

How do I enter my security code to my Eurovox radio/cassette/CD Unit?
Refer to the owner's manual of your equipment. Turn ignition key to 'Accessories' & a number '1' or code '1' or similar will appear. Press corresponding preset buttons as you read you security code. If you have a 6 digit security code, the display will count the preset buttons pressed. i.e. display will show '1' the '2' then '3' & so on up to '6' regardless of which number is pressed. If the security code is correct, the radio will turn on. If the security code is incorrect, the display will show '2' or 'code 2' or similar. After 3 incorrect attempts, the radio will go into 'lockout mode'.

Why has my radio got horizontal lines on the display & is not responding to any buttons?
The radio has had 3 incorrect security codes entered & is now in lockout mode. For recent model radio's leave 1 hour (some radio's require ignition key to be on accessories). For older model radio's, remove power to radio by either unplugging radio or disconnecting the negative lead on the battery for 1 hour.

My radio will not accept my security code?
(1) This radio may have been replaced and now requires a different security code
(2)The security code you have been supplied is wrong.
(3)This radio has an internal fault. To check if radio works there is a temporary test code '1111' or '111111' can be used for most of Eurovox Radio. This only lasts for approx 3 minutes.

How do I enter security code to my overhead DVD/Screen combo unit?
Using the <<or>> buttons on the overhead console, scroll up or down to select the first number. Once the correct number is shown, press the ENT button. Repeat this procedure to enter the 4 digit code. As each digit is entered, it will be shown on the display.

Why does "Code Input Error" appears on my overhead DVD/Screen Combo Unit?
If incorrect codes are entered for more than 3 times, your Eurovox overhead DVD/Screen unit will show "Code Input Error" on the display.
Leave car key in the car and turn it to Accessories for approximated 1 hour, the overhead DVD/Screen unit will reset itself and shows"Security Input 1***" on the display.

Good luck... a FixYa rating would be great for my attention to your problem. Cheers mate

regards
Graeme

1998 Mercedes ML320 Radio code instructions

does your radio ask for the code when you turn on the ignition key. If you see _ _ _ _ or **** you should enter the code using the pre set numbers for your radio, ie, first code should be entered using the first pre set key on the radio ( number one ).
Followed by the second code number being entered using the second pre set button and so on until all of the code is entered.
After entering the full code the radio should accept, if not enter code again and press the next pre set key following, ie, if the code is 4 digits, press the fifth.
Hope this works.
If all this fails most garages will set the security code for you for a small charge. Make sure you take proof of car ownership otherwise they will normally refuse to reset the code. This is to foil theft.

SECURITY CODE

Security Code is not accepted.
The code number is incorrect. Please enter code which is printed on your radio passport.
First coding doesn't function.
The code was not entered immediately after first start-up. Put the equipment back into the original operating conditions by pressing RESET key. Then enter the code which is printed on your radio passport.

There are a number of ways to "RESET" (which may or may not solve the problem - proceed at your own risk).
From a G search on the subject...
