Truck wont go when I release the clutch.

When I go to take off my truck goes into gear fine but when i release the clutch the truck wont move. Sometimes it will grab and go just a little bit but not for long. What could be the problem?

Can you shift gears with the engine running, all gears, and no grinding? Do any gears work? If you can shift gears with the engine running, the clutch is working okay. Your brakes aren't locking up, are they? If no gears work, transmission or differential trouble. If can shift from first to reverse and back with no grinding, the clutch is good and working. Check transmission output.

You need a new clutch. The clutch disc has worn out, now it's slipping on the flywheel. Clutch kit: new pressure plate, new clutch disc, new clutch release bearing, and new crankshaft pilot bushing- about $150-200, somewhere in that range..

SOURCE: i have a 1989 ford ranger five speed manual 2.3

do this...

make sure the reservoir is full
engine off and pump the clutch pedal slowly about 5-10 times
while holding the pedal down have assistant open the bleeder on the master located in the trans

if you get a good squirt then your concern is the master
if no squirt then replace the slave

neither job is quick but the slave is 1/2 time

SOURCE: i just started having problems today. 2001 ford

Sounds like the rear end differential is going out. I had a similar problem on a customer's truck, and it was the differential in the rearend. Replaced the rearend, and the noise was gone.

Starting my truck with the shifter in gear an the clutch pressed it trys to go in what ever position the shifter is in.It is also getting harder to shift in to the next gear.

try fixing the clutch problem by bleed out the air if hydraulic or replacing the cable if cable operated
it indicates that the clutch is not being released when the foot is on the pedal

Hi,2002 cavalier now the clutch pedal goes in to start the vehicle and once the pedal is released all the way car barely moves. i thought the slave or master cylinder could be shot

I would think that the clutch itself is shot. If it was the slave cylinder or the master cylinder, you would not be able to get the car into gear when the engine is running. If it goes into gear fine, but just doesn't want to move....it means your clutch is not griping.

85 toyota pickup clutch wont engage

The gear box should be okay. Check the clutch-watch if the clutch fork on the bell housing moves when someone presses the clutch. If it doesn't move, the cable needs adjusting, or if hydraulic clutch diagnose the clutch master and slave cylinders. Either one should cause the clutch fork to move and engage the clutch.

Can put into gear when running but when i release clutch and give gas truck dont move but i haer a low clunk sound, could it be my pressure plate or gears in my transmission?

if you can put it into gear release the clutch , no movement its more than likely the clutch assembly broken spring in the pressure plate , have you tried all gears also reverse if it goes into all gears no movement or if the sound get worse or goes away in different gear then I would say input shaft bearing , my bet is clutch assembly

94 ford ranger manual transmission goes into first gear and reverse just fine let off the clutch and the truck wont move.

part of a clutch job is removing the gearlever make sure the lever is secured properly and selects the gear correctly.
Orherwise your symptoms sound like a collapsed pressure plate or broken release bearing either defective part or something done wrong during installation of clutch

Truck wont move in gear [manual trans] why?

push the clutch pedal all the way and see if the slave cylinder pushrod is going out at least an inch, if not replace the slave cylinder, if it does goes out, sad to say but you have problem somewhere else inside your clutch assembly
