Question about Samsung LN-R328W 32 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

For a few days when I tried to change cable channels the screen would freeze, showing the info bar for the new channel I'd selected. Nothing would be possible after that. It also often froze if I pulled down "info" or used "guide". For a few days I'd turn it off and wait and it would unfreeze. Now it's been stuck overnight and nothing seems to get it to move.

Hi,

Are you using the HDMI for video AND audio or just video? Are you using the reciever as the video switcher by routing your devices into the amp and then from the out of the amp to the TV and then back to the amp from the TV HDMI output and the digital output? You may have a loop going on and the amp can't handle it.
If you are coming out of the TV with both HDMI and digital hooked to the same input selection on the amp and have the amp set for auto signal select, it could be throwing the amp for a loop and causing it to freak. From what I can see in the specs for that amp it has 2 HDMI in for connecting a HiDef Sat/Cable box, a DVD or Blu-Ray player or a gaming console, and then 1 output to the TV. HDMI handles both audio and video. Disconnect the digital cable and just use the HDMI for both audio and video.
The optimal set up would be as follows:

With a cable or sat box with HDMI out, go to the HDMI input to the TV. From the TV use either HDMI OR digital to the amp, not both. If you have Blu-Ray or HDMI DVD, connect that to the other HDMI input on the TV.

If the TV has only 1 HDMI input then connect the Cable or Sat box to one of the amp HDMI inputs and the Blu-Ray/DVD to the other and then from the HDMI out to the HDMI in to the TV with NO audio cable from the TV to the amp. Then use the cable remote to change channels.

See if one of those connection maps works for you.

If you need more help, let me know. Include the TV model and the digital audio cable interface type, whether it is optical or coax. It would also help knowing if you are using a Satellite or Cable box and which one it is.

Cheers

Why tv guide shows channels but stopped showing the programmes that are on, and info about them. Also sometimes brings up different channel to selected one.

Yes. I have experienced the same problem from time to time, but not allot. It usually occurs when the cable company is performing an update to where all channel descriptions will display the words, "no info". Sometimes it occurs around 12 midnight. Sometimes there is a lag in time (5 seconds) from when I push the button to go to a channel from the guide, and when it actually happens (but again, not all the time).

Motorola DVR Model DCX3501-M front display shows the channel selection. I want it to display the time of day and only show the channel selection when I am changing channels. The manual is of no help

It is a cable provider setup within the menu. On charter here are the steps - menu, TV guide main menu, setup, Cable box setup, front LED display.... I don't know what these other people are trying to answer for you...lol. You can also adjust the brightness display by pressing power followed by menu (starting with the tv on).

How do I use "look

I'm assuming that you're referring to the Look Back service offered by Time Warner Cable. If not, then ignore this.
Look Back allows you play back shows that you might not have recorded on your DVR (maybe you don't even have a DVR). The time window is within 3 days after the show airs, and it's only for specific shows... oh, and only on certain channels.
If you are on a Look Back-enabled channel, an Enhanced logo will appear on the screen, at which point you can hit Select on the remote to access it. From there, you can go to the day and program that you wish to watch. For more info, refer to Time Warner Cable's website. This website is for Texas, but it gives you an idea (to get the specific Look Back channels in your area, you'll want to change your location at the top of the page):
http://www.timewarnercable.com/texas/site.faqs/DigitalCab/#Look+Back
I hope this helps.

I have a Samsung LED 37'' (LE37R88BD) it is just over 2 years old. The colour has changed (very strong reds) and I'm getting image burn from previous channel i.e sports will show the logo or an info bar...

that would be the screen driver failing, the shadow is the memory on the screen control its self the board is on the back of the screen with a lead going to it from the main av board, the board has to be replaced with the same part number, as different ares put different screen in when made you will need the part number from the board and replace it this board with same part number.

Motorola dvr dct6412 locked channels

Check with your provider to ensure that you are in expanded services, or limited. Because being on limited services the box will lock you out of those channels. If you are in billing for those services and you checked the batteries on your remote and they are good and you get a solid red blink when you change channels not a double blink (indicating that your batteries are dying), Then try power cycling your DVR by, removing the power supply and waiting 3sec then plug it back in. Your box should shut off, turn itself back on, then go into the load screen, then, once the load screen display shows on your tv and on box display, wait for your box to completely load (don't touch nothing until the correct time shows up, meaning that it has completed the load process) Once the process is complete turn box back on and you should have you guide back up and (No Data) on your program schedule(Don't Worry!!) it will populate, with 15-20 mins.

Now try to ch. up and down and see if that fixed the problem. also make sure nothing is blocking the sensor. If all else fails and you changed the battery, called your cable provider and request a box swap, (be sure to watch all your recorded shows because they go bye, bye with the cable guy!)

Hdtv picture freeze

I also have a Brand new Sony Bravia 52" LCD with Comcast Cable (motorola box). When switching between HD Channels sometimes the left side of the screen shows a smushed version of the new channel, and the right side is a frozen picture of the previous channel. I correct this by switching to a non HD channel and back. Cable or TV problem I wonder?

Channel stuck and can't record shows the same night

Your two problems are related - the DVD player lost contact with the local PBS channel, which altered its internal clock.

Add a red, white and yellow cable from one of the outs on the back of the cable box to the slot marked AV1 IN on the back of the Philips. Then redo the channel programming - press the System Menu button and change Tuning Band to CATV - it will then ask you if you want to do an Auto Channel Set - say Yes.

Once it is done with the channel programming, turn the DVD player to whatever channel PBS is on in your area's cable service. Then go back to System Menu - select Clock Set and go to Auto. Alternatively, you can select Manual under Clock Set and change the date by hand).

Good luck!
