Question about Smartdisk - Peripherals - HARD DRIVE, CROSSFIRE 160GB EXTERNAL (XG160F)
That can happen when the partitioned space is smaller than the maximum space available on disk.
The best way to extend current partition is by re-partitioning and re-formatting the hard drive.
Doing this will delete Operative system and all data on drive, therefore you will need to reinstall Windows , software and drivers, and backup and restore your data.
Moreover those missing couple of Gigabytes on disk space may have been reserved by laptop manufacturer to host a recovery partition.
Unless you have to reinstall system for other resons, better leaving partition as it is and freeing some space on disk, maybe removing obsolete software, cleaning temporary files, and moving some of your files on an external disk.

Its probably formatted not to use the entire space of the disk, is there another partition or "D" drive where your restore/backup stuff is? That could be take up the rest of the space. Hard disks are always described as being a certain size but can be formatted by windows tlo split up the drive into smaller chunks called partitions. Your C drive/partition might be way less then 30Gb therefore only showing up as 22Gb
