Question about Car Audio & Video

2 Answers

Hello, I am Terry. And I have recently purchased a Kia Rio car which has a JVC CD receiver KW-S601 fitted. When the ignition is on or the key is in the accessory position, and I set the radio to the settings to what I like. The unit works fine and remembers the settings fine, no problem, the problem is when I switch the ignition of and lock the car up over night. The unit resets it self back to default settings, all expect from the radio presets on the radio, it is so frustrating to get in the car and when I turned on the car I end up with a radio that I have never heard off. The same thing happens when I play a CD instead of playing from the last track it goes back to track one. I am due to take the car back to the dealer on 22/05/09 so that they can rectify the problem. Could you also advise me on how the following unit is mounted and would the current roof Ariel will work with the unit. KT-DB1000 or where to get instruction/advice before I go mad and purchase the unit. I leave in the UK. Please do contact me if you need any further information. Thank your time in this matter. Regards, Terry Macavoy

Yes it will be possible .as from when you return from your car mostly he will give you the right settings to set the he will make your settings the default it will not revert back to the orignal default setting in which the radio goes.

Hi terry, I have checked the KW-s601 and found out that its DAB ready. There is a port at the back of the head unit for DAB modules such as KT-DB1000. Its plug and play. About the roof ariel, Im sorry but the stock roof ariel will not work for the KT-DB1000. You need to buy a special roof ariel for this.

About the radio not being able to store data. You'd better ask the dealership about this. usually, this happens if the radio was wiring problems.

I sure hope that i've helped you out. Have a good one.

JVC KW-NT1 GPS not working in UK

Have you tried re-flashing the unit with the latest EU firmware update available from the JVC website? Should overide the current firmware then allow you to use UK maps. If it doesn't work you can always reflash it with the USA update.

it sounds like you don't have the yellow wire going to a constant power source. the ;yellow wire provides the power for retaining memory.

What colour are the power wires, are they green & yellow, black, black & grey, blue & grey, red & grey or black & green. I want to connect a cd/radio player but don't know what wires connect to the cd...

JVC KW-AVX800 The black wire is your ground The yellow is your positive 12v constant so connect this to the wire that has 12v when the car is off. The red connect this to the key switch wire meaning the wire will have a 12v signal only when the key is tured to the on position. The blue is for a power antenna the blue/white stripe is if you have external amps this wire goes to the amps remote on The orange/white stripe connect this wire to your cars dimmer switch Happy Wiring
