Need help with a mitsubishi big screen tv. model #- VS-45605. It needs a replacement screen and has vertical hold issues.

You will have to search for a TV repair shop, and see if they have another 45" Mitsubishi TV of the same model, or close. You may be able to get a replacement screen from salvage. As for the vertical hold, in some cases you may believe the vertical IC is at fault (we will come back to this), may be not. The first suspicion is in the signal board. The signal board is the board with all the RCA jacks and RF connections. Pull this board out and replace Capacitor (location C2V29) this is a 16 volt 22Mf capacitor. Also replace C2P05 which is a 16 volt 100 Mf cap. This will correct your vertical problem. If you can find an ESR meter, I would certainly check all the capacitors in the signal board. You will find several weak capacitors to replace. The two already mentioned are extremely weak or bad. As for the other board (power supply) you may have to resolder the pins on the vertical IC. It will be located on the corner of the board. I do not remember the location. It is mounted on a heat sink, the vertical IC will have a number such as LA78XX. (LA7838, not sure). Resolder the pins on this IC and check the capacitors in and near this IC. I have not received much problems with this power supply. As always, inspect both boards for bad solder grounds and resolder as necessary! Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Line across picture tube

It's a bad solder connection on the vertical IC.It will be mounted on the main board.It is vertical in length and will have thirteen pins..should be marked "LA7838" or similar.

Horizontal Line

This is a problem with the vertical circuit. Look for a small flat IC attached to a heat sink. It should have about 9-11 pins and be marked LA7838 or something similar. Try resoldering the pins first. If that does not resolve the problem, replace the IC. The IC will cost between $10-$20.

Tv picture dose not come only LINe

There is a problem with the vertical circuit. Many times it is the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink. It may be merked LA7838 or something similar. You ca try resoldering the pins as a bad connection can also cause this. If that fails, replace the IC.

Only Horizontal line

If you can hit it, it is probabl;y just bad solder joints on the vertilcal output IC (yes thats right vertical, because it stretches,or in your case compresses the picture vertically). kind of hard to point you to it if you've never been in a tv but it will be a little chip standing up mounted onto a piece of metal (heat sinc). There will be a few though the IC will likely have 1 row of pins maybe 7-10. And probably have a part number on it that begins with "LA" like maybe LA7838. You can tap around the different heat syncs with a NON-METALIC with the TV on until you find the one that is sensitive that should help you identify the vertical IC. Any way unplu flip the PCB over and resolder that IC. That should take care of it.

Tv problem

Good Day;
Sounds you have a bad vertical output IC that is defective along with some caps. Change IC > LA7838 > IC401 and ALL CAPS like cap off of pin #6 1ufd 25v and etc.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

JVC 31" TV Vertical Screen Jumping

I've heard this is could be a cold solder joint and am looking for advice on which IC to re-solder. 1 whatever you have heard is correct as whenever you smacked the lelt side it works fine. 2 you will have to check loose contact in vertical section. your vertical ic might be located at the left side of the tv. 3 check any connector is loose near vertival section. 4 any preset is loose in vertical section. it is a simple problem if you are not technical person please get it done by tech person. as your tv is old & if it is done by tech person tell him to replace all elrctrolytic capacitors in vertical section. good luck.

DS25390 Verticle foldover

If you have a picture but the top is folded over, your vertical IC is probably good and you need to replace the pump-up capacitor next to the IC. When the pump-up cap (typically a 47 or 100uF 35V cap) is open then the picture will have white lines and foldover at the top. The typical vertical output IC is the LA7838, but I am not familiar with exactly which output IC your set uses.
