Motor gear slipping on shaft - Brady ID PAL Thermal Label Printer

I had the same trouble this morning, I used the screwdriver that is supplied and removed the right side of the body. I found the gear on the motor shaft had slipped up the shaft and was not meshing with the bottom rotor gear. slide the motor gear down into postion, and install the right side of the body.

Sounds like a slipping pinion gear. Remove starter solenoid assembly and put on the kitchen table, old newspapers for protection are optional. The pinion gear is the one on the end of the starter motor shaft that is driven forward to engage with e toothed edge of the flywheel. It should free wheel in one direction and lock solid when reversed. The locking clutch mechanism its what supplies the motor's rotation to the flywheel to crank the engine over. If the pinion gear clutch is slipping the motor makes a whizzing sound as the shaft spins within it. You can buy a new pinion gear cheaply. Whilst the motor is out buy a refurbishment kit ($10) for the solenoid consisting of contact striker plates and plunger . This preventative measure will avoid any hassle in this department for many years.

It could be a number of issues. These saws have a built in vari-torque clutch used to prevent kickbacks. Basically, when the blade binds while cutting, the arbor spins but the blade won't (prevents kick-back). It works by not over tightening the blade washer (this is the slip clutch), if you over tighten, the blade washer can't prevent kick-backs because it has no room to slip, if you under tighten, the arbor spins, but the blade won't. I'd try to tighten the blade washer 1/8 turn and see what that does. If your actual arbor shaft is not spinning, you could have a gear issue. If you hear the motor running and the arbor slips (not the slip clutch) sounds like there might be a gear issue,If the rotor is spinning (the part inside the stator-i.e. the electric motor section) but it is not transfering that movement to the arbor, it has to be a gear issue.

Your cable may have broken or slipped and maybe bending rather than shifting in the sleeve. You may also want to check and make sure all set screws and cable locks are secure.

Have a look to see if the rubber cush drive in your propeller has worn out and is letting the prop slip on the shaft.

Yes, the Breadman TR845 uses a belt to connect the knead paddle to the motor. I had a problem with my Breadman so I took it apart. It turned out for me that the belt was fine but it had slipped off the plastic gear. The belt was still around the shaft of the motor so it could only turn if the bread pan was empty. The belt is a timing belt with integral teeth. I needed a small space washer that would keep the black plastic gear from slipping on the shaft and allowing the belt to slip off the gear. There is a lip only on one side of the plastic gear so if it moves the belt can slip off. I created a spacer washer from the cap on a tube of toothpaste. I cut the cap in half and had to use a metal file to get it the right size. I needed it to be 1/4 tall and 3/4 inch in diameter. I cut the spacer so that I could slip it over the shaft of the motor. The spacer keeps the black plastic gear from sliding and it keeps the belt from slipping off the gear. After putting it all back together everything works fine. And the toothpaste tube was almost empty anyway.

P.S. There are losts of screws that hold it together and the belt and gears are at the bottom of the Breadman and you have to take the whole thing apart to get to the bottom. I was able to leave all the wires attached so that putting it back together went quickly compared to the work of taking it apart.

disassemble, inspect gear drive on motor and regulator. Replace as necessary. When you say it slips. Im thinking you may mean it just doesn't want to move with any power. If its actually slipping. you have missing teeth on the gear or the regulator is damaged.

Those gears are only held on the motor with their tight fit, if yours is slipping that easily the motor will have to be replaced. The new motor will have that gear on it.

When you say lag and catch up. This may not be a issue. I have seen this with dough and a spiral hooks on all sizes of Hobarts the hook and dough get in a position to push the hook forward and the drive gears catch back up the hook. in fist gear on the 20 quart this is common for sure. but its normal. if you have a real slip from a sheared key it will not take long to where you can hold the planetary shaft with your hand and stop it. another slip that might be possible is if your mixer has the first generation worm shaft gear Assembly. when it is worn out it will slip you. this is the shaft that drives directly off the motor. you can tell if it's first Gen by it has a large spring on it. the tow later versions are all keyed to the shaft no chance to slip unless a key shears.

The gear is proabaly slipping on the motors shaft. You will have to carefuly open up the head unit and get to the motor to see if it is a slipping gear or linkage broken. If it is the gear slipping on the motor shaft, then glue it back. Hopefully it is not damaged beyond repair.
