Not burning anything dvd?

I installed a NEC ND-6500A DVD±RW Dual Layer on my inspirion 5100. It will do anything perfect with cd cd-r cd-rw & will ready any type of dvd. It will not burn anything dvd however? I have tried firmware upgrade and when I do it says no upgrade necessary? PLEASE HELP! Thanks

What software are you trying to use to burn DVDs?
