SOURCE: Black and Decker 16 in Hedge Trimmer

I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.

Try loosening the bolts up on the blades just enough to allow the washers to move freely a little, spray the blades down (but don't soak them ) with WD40 to lubricate the blades, that should solve it. If that doesn't do it then you may need to pull the gear housing cover off to see if something is jammed.

SOURCE: 22" excalibur hedge trimmer has no spark and will not start

remove plug and ground and see if you have spark at electrode.

Sometimes will not fire under compression.

Check that kill switch is not shorted, just remove the wire going to ground and try again.
If not probably bad coil.

I have a petrol hedge trimmer TRY26PHTA. The engine will start fine but the blades will not move

If the engine starts 'fine" then it has not seized.

Many, if not most, hedge trimmers are , for safety, equipped with a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" between the engine and the blade to prevent blade operation unless the engine is at full RPM.

IF your machine is so equipped, it's possible that the clutch is worn and slipping so badly that the blade can't move.

How do you lubricate a black & decker 8124 type 7 16" hedge trimmer. It is probably 15 years old and very "squeeky".

Use a spray lubricant WD-40 is my preference.Spray it all along the blades.Make sure to get where the blades attach. There is a large gear just above the blades on the inside of the trimmer, make sure to get it too. the link below is a diagram showing all the parts. That should make finding what I am talking about easy.

How do I change the primer bulb on my hedge trimmer. A mouse has chewded through it

Follow the link below, type in your model number and use the picture diagram as a guide. Most of the time you just remove four small screws that are located next to the primer bulb, then pull the primer bulb out of the metal retainer and reinstall your new one in reverse order.
