HDD Password Reset ?

I recently bought Dell studio 15 laptop .
I have a problem with HDD password.
when i start the system it ask the HDD Password......without password it wont be go inside. But the problem is i forgot the password unfortunatly. Please do the needful........

really i bit lost of patiencey bcoz of this HDD Password.

Appriciate any pointers in Advance.

Contact dell support and give them the asset tag / serial number of the laptop and they will be able to tell you a back door hard drive password which you can use to reset the hard drive password.

    turn it upside down so your looking at the under side of the laptop and there should be some stickers ( one of which should say

    asset tag : ASSET_TAG_IS_HERE

Thank you for every one to get my problem got resolved.

I have another problem, my CD- ROM got damaged due to some problem.
My system got efeected by virus and needs to partision the system to clean up effected virus. Unfortunatly i can not able to do that as my CD-ROM correpted.

Can anyone let me know is there any way to do the same by using external hard disk or any other alternative ? ( i know how to do the partision by using bootable disk)

Gud eve people, i forget my user password which is used as the HDD password in ma dell studio 15. i tried removin cmos battery after removin my lap battery and totally powerin it down nd stil it is not...
I forgot laptop password, i just reset laptop password by the following steps,

Step1: You should restartyour computer, and keep pressing F8/F2 to enter the Safe mode.
Step2: After enter the safe mode, you can see the default administratoraccount, just click it to enter the system.
Step3: Open User Account in control panel, pick the account you have forgottenthe password to change laptop password.
Step4: Restart the computer, you will log on with the newly created password orwithout password

You'll need to contact Dell and have them try to reset the password. They will ask you for the service tag and error code.

Hello my name is yogesh my leptop model is studio1555 and the problem is how to remove hdd password on my leptop because i set password but this password are not work and after 3 times you rong password...
you'll need to contact Dell support for this one. they will be able to help you request a password that you can use to reset/clear the hard drive password. After it is reset, you may then set a new hard drive password if preferred. Be sure that you have the ownership information of the system in order to get help from Dell about this issue.

User password lockout
Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

Dell Inspiron 6400, asking for HDD password
Insert OS cd in drive and start reinstalling by selecting repair mode now once all files are loaded system will reboot when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10
this will give you access to your account also you can reset all passwords
Now restart lappy and let the system boot normally without OS cd in drive
now you will come to old screen and previously configured desktop with all intact aplication and icons on desktop and it will no more ask you for password till you set a new one
