Hi,

This can occur as a result of any unreadable drive that is in your boot sequence not reading. Remove all media from the machine(CD, DVD, Memory Card, Flash Drive, Floppy Disk, Printer with memory card slots), then try booting again.

If that doesn't work, chances are your hard drive is damaged. It may only be minor logical damage or could be serious hardware damage. That is more difficult to assess via subjective analysis but could be sent to a pro for assessment if you have files you require on the drive which are not backed up.

If this is the case and you do not have anything important on the drive or if you have your files backed up on a second source simply replace the drive and re-install your operating system, then restore the backed up files and move forward.

If you require any additional info or advice, just ask

Chris

If it is showing a blue scree of death (BSOD) and shuts downbefore you can read the error message try this:
Turn the computer off, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 keyrepeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Scroll down below Safe Mode and youwill see an option to Disable Automatic Restart. Select it and rebootyour machine. Next time it boots up you will be able to read the errormessage. You'll probably need a system disc or repair disc to fix theblue screen error message.
