Question about Lexmark X83 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Paper will not feed into printer

Tried printing and paper starts to feed but will not continue through printer while it sounds like the printer is printing.  When I first tried printing, didn't pull in paper and made a clunking noise.  Display said to replace cartridges.  I pulled them out and put them back in.  Now it pulls the paper in about 2" and stops the feed process, but the printer head is printing (makes the sound like it is).

Any solution on how to get the paper to feed?

Re: Paper will not feed into printer

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Have continuous paper jams every time I attempt to print a document.

You have to have paper in the gears or in the feed or the tractor gears. Cheap paper is a usual problem, you can't use cheap paper. I would also do a maint menu on alignment and print feed and that should do it. If there is no paper jammed and you are using good paper (humidity can wreck havoc as well ) you might just need a new printer cause the feed is broke.

Printer printed paper with crushing sounds, but

You need to continually press the paper feed button (next to power) while applying gentle pulling pressure to manually feed the paper all the way through the printer. Hope this helped

Paper pulls to the right, jams, won't print, tried different paper still won't print

Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth, bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then
Try print.

Paper not feeding through getting stuck halfway

One common cause of paper feed issues is a build up of dust on the printer's rear paper feed roller. This roller consists of a plastic axle white roller. This is located in the automatic sheet feeder and is referred to as the "Pick Roller." As dust builds up on the rubber rollers, they become less tacky and therefore unable to grab a single sheet of paper.

To prevent and/or cure this type of paper feed problem, these rubber rollers should be cleaned. Unplug the printer's power cord and remove the paper from the automatic sheet feeder. Please remove the paper access door from back of the printer and clean the white rollers inside with a cloth dampened with warm water (be sure there is no excess water on the cloth as it may drip into the machine). After these are free of any dust, close the paper access door. Reload the paper and plug the power cord back in. The paper should then feed normally.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Power the printer off.
2. Press and hold the "Paper Feed" button.
3. While still holding the "Paper Feed" button, press and release the "Power" button. Continue holding the "Paper Feed" button.
4. When the printer starts pulling paper, release the "Paper Feed" button. It should print a test page at this point.
5. Power the printer off, as this test is continuous.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either a solid black or solid color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, please try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only a color cartridge installed (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed). If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues - we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.

If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

No paper feed (brother MCF-440CN)

Had a similar problem with the MFC-885cw. Turns out that , if you have a photo paper tray installed which sits just above the main tray, you need to puill it all the way back towards you otherwise it blocks the paper feed. Not the best design feature I've ever seen.

Paper Jam on

most printers are pretty cheap now so replacement is always an option....on the other hand, I will spend countless hours trying to figure out what is wrong first. Remove all paper first, open printer and check for pieces of torn paper or debris, if you have a can of air you can blow out the insides to clean. Put 3 or 4 sheets of paper in, print a test page and watch carefully how paper it straight or crooked when being loaded? Is printer trying to pull more than 1 sheet at a time? Good luck

try reinstalling the drivers and/or replacing the cables. Also look for any debris or tiny piece of paper that may be stuck between the rollers..

Paper feed and printing problem

Don't know if it's the same problem i had but its maybe worth a try. My paper went in a little, the wheels were turning but it didn't take the rest of the paper or print.
Someone replied to my problem, i tried it and it fixed 1st time. Also seems to of worked for others, it seems to reset the sensors or something.
Solution:- Use a piece of thin card, a magazine cover is what i used, make sure its A4 size then try to print something, as the paper starts moving push it through!! and hey presto it worked for me, everything printing fine now.
hope it works, let me know, Garty

Hp LaserJet 1100: Runs louder than normal and continuously, BUT will not grab paper and print

Fred shine a flashlight down the paper feed throat and see if the feer roller is rotating when the printer tries to print.
I have had to replace many of the feed rolls and separation pads in this series of printer.
the tires get dirty or worn and feed multiple sheets or none at all. check for obstructions as well-sometimes the black mylar sheet which sits in front of the feed roll gets in the way of the paper path and has to be pushed in place. I have also seen paper pieces stuck next to the paper path switch which is visible after removing the toner cartridge. hope this helps.

Epson Photo RX600 error messages

Check for a paper jam inside the paper feeder... There's something blocking the path that is why the 3-beep is activated. Also put lubricant to the head's round-bar, gears and levers.

Goodluck... Fixya me...
