Can I Sell Mom's eMac

I believe this is your mac?

eMac G4/1.0 (ATI)1.0 GHz PowerPC 7445 (G4)apple_emac.jpgIntro Date:May 6, 2003*Disc Date:April 13, 2004*Order No:M8950LL/A*Model No:A1002 (EMC 1903)Subfamily:eMac ATIModel ID:PowerMac4,4Std. RAM:128 MB, 256 MBStd. VRAM:32 MBStd. HD:40, 60, 80 GBStd. Optical:8X "Combo Drive"*Complete eMac G4/1.0 (ATI) Specs
This is a very old model and I doubt it will sell for much. I would suggest putting a listing on eBay and craigslist. Price it at about $50. (Do "buy it now" on eBay)
However, you could get a lot of mileage out of it yourself if you want to use it as a personal web server, or a Linux machine. Research both on Google if you are interested (or ask me another question here at fix-ya).

What wireless router will work on my eMAC G4?

For this computer any wireless router will definitely work since any computer can work with any brand and model of wireless router out in the market, but you can choose from these brands Linksys , Netgear Dlink or Belkin those are great manufacturer of router that will work fine with your MAC.

My old outdated emac wont connect to internet

A lot of people think its the computer when they can't connect to the internet. In reality it's most likely your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
Check the lights on the front of the Cable modem or DSL modem. The "received" light is the one you need to worry about, if it blinking it's receiving data.
If you are not seeing any blinking light you will need to call your ISP for troubleshooting.
A lot of times they do maintenance and have disconnect everyone in the area.

I was given an emac and signed up for comcast. 30 days later, still unable to work on the internet. safari no works. explorer no works. trying to get firefox 3.5.11 but no can do. the emac is set up...

Use safari as it is mac. Go to connection/internet panel and set up connection with whatever connection you have. If comcast is giving you issues force them to make the connection work. Its part of your benifits.

I have an eMac and would wireless USB adapter to work

It depends on which eMac you have. The 1/1.25 Ghz and the 1.42 ghz models have USB 2.0 so either adapter will work. The slower speed eMacs only had USB 1.1 and will not work for those types of adapters. The 700/800Mhz models will use the original AirPort card while the rest of the eMacs use the Airport Extreme cards.

Friend has eMac with OS10 and wireless internet. On MS messenger she can't see friends pictures and they can't see her's. I have tried changing settings to no avail. Can someone tell me why or suggest...

Does her version of MSN Messenger even ALLOW to use pictures? I can't recall, but I think that, even if you use a picture in the MSN messenger, it's mostly ignored by the Windows version of MSN.

I have a wireless lan connection (usb addition), and I'm trying to get a connection through my desktop G4 mac (using system 10.3.9) - I can see a network but it won't connect through any browser. What do...

does your work have a password to log into the network? If so you may not be able to use your laptop unless they let you. Talk to your IT's at work.

Ethernet speed changes from normal to zero

If you have high speed internet go to your ISP webpage and do a speed test. If You are paying for say like 10 MEGS and are only pulling 1.2 Megs. It probably is your modem. Your speed will slow down to approx 7.5 behind a router. Also Your ethernet cable might need replacing. might also might try resetting your router. disconnect all power even the cable comming in and reset everything. Hope that helps.

MAC G4 won't boot - Blue screen appears

Hi Sorry to hear you are having troubles,You will need a firewire 400 cableOK, first thing you must do is reboot the eMac in TARGET mode, this means it will be recognized as an external disk. To get the eMac in TARGET mode, you must be sure the eMac is turned OFF and has a functioning keyboard connected.Power on the eMac and very very rapidly press the ( T ) key on the keyboard, be sure the caps lock button is not pressed. If all goes well, you will see the firewire logo appear larger than life on the screen.( If you are unable to get into TARGET mode, it is highly probable that the mother board of the internal hard drive is damaged and preventing the eMac from entering TARGET mode, sorry, that's the end of the line..)Once you enter TARGET mode on the eMac, connect the firewire cable to your G4 PowerBook, you can do this either while it is running or when it is off and then turn it on.
You should see the volume of your eMac internal hard drive appear on the PowerBook desktop...sometimes you need to open Disk Utilities and repair or mount the drive manually. If this all works well, copy the required files directly to your PowerBook...After that, power off both machines, disconnect them and reboot the eMac using a CD or DVD to reformat and reinstall a new system.

Network a G4 (OS 9) to a eMac (OS X)

OK - first, crossover cables let you network PCs together without a switch or router. I would strongly recommend returning the crossover cable and buying a router so that you can use both computers on the internet at the same time.

Second, the eMac monitor can not directly be used as a monitor for your G4 - it's not built that way. However, you can use Screen Sharing on OS X (if both have Leopard) or Apple Remote Desktop software (if you buy it) to remote control the G4 using the eMac.

You will DEFINITELY need a monitor on the G4 in order to set it up at all, so I hope you have that.

Keep in mind that you can buy, for less than $200, an LCD screen that is larger and better quality than the eMac, and it would leave the eMac useful as a second computer. Since the eMac is unlikely to work at all with Leopard, and you'd have to buy Apple Remote Desktop, you're going to spend less money by buying a separate screen for the G4.
