The waterheater will not ignite when water is going through it. Is there supposed to be a pilot light on at rest?

We got the pilot lit but cant get it to lght whole gas flame

after the pilot is lit for about 30 seconds turn it to on. The rest of it should ignite within a few seconds. If it does not, you may have a bad thermocouple

Water heater pilot keeps going out. Relight and may stay lit for a day and then goes out again. Now won't even light at all. Has an igniter button. Also says to clean intake screen every 6 months. Where is...

the intake screen or as is called flame trap is located on the very bottom of the heater underneath. this is very important that you keep this clean or it will keep going out. this is the only way this heater has to get air to the burning chamber.

Atwood gas waterheater with white rodgers gas valve pilot hard to light and not a big enough flame to touch the thermocouple

I think you need to reposition the thermocouple, or adjust the pilot gas pressure by adjusting the pilot screw make sure it is still the recommended gas pressure of the system... please contact a HVAC tech if this things did not work.

Kenmore waterheater piezo innotor won't re-light

air in the line, disconnect the pilot supply and hold the button until you smell gas coming from the valve, that will remove the air, as for the igniter, test it by removing the connection and hold it about 1/8" away from the conenction and click it, should see a spark

Waterheater pilot light keeps going out

There are several things that can cause this, but the most likely cause is a dirty pilot light orifice, causing the pilot light to have a smaller weaker flame than it was designed for. This produces a weak flame that is easily susceptable to drafts, and a lower holding temperature on your safety capillary tube that controls the gas shutoff safety valve.
The orifice can be removed and cleaned on some models, removed and replaced on others. I would suggest a qualified serviceman be called, because gas service is usually beyond a typical handyman's area of expertise, and safety is a very important issue here.
