No radio function/one volume only

The radio on my RS1290B system is not working at all when I press that function. My CD and tape cassette are working but at only 1 volume--VERY LOUD. This unit has not been dropped or mishandled in any way so I can't imagine what the problem is. Thank you for any suggestions.
