Copiers come with default settings. But usually to make copies of different sizes with different orientation, a temporary settings is made, to suite the need.
This temporary setting automatically resets itself to default setting, if the mechine is left idle for 2 minutes.
Can this be made manual or can the idle time be increased to 10 minutes or above. ??? if yes - how ???
can any body help me with this - ??

Re: canon copier - switching between default setting
You can usually adjust the timer settings via the additional functions screen and select 'timer settings' and within there you can set 'return to standby timer' this will help you. The way to access this mode varies from machine to machine but if you have a key with a head and a star inside it, that will get you into the additional functions screen.

Ok my what you need to do is first go into service mode by pressing asterisk key(*) on control panel and then press2& 8 simultaneously on numeric key pad and press asterisk key again.Other screen will appear with following main screen: copier.sorter,feeder,etc.Go copier another screen will appear go to function touch it then go to clear all then switch off machine then on again. In this way you will have cleared them ram then do paper size registration by going to CST intermediate screan put different sizes of paper in the ADF one at time keep pressing ok for each size selected. After you are through exit service mode by switching off machine.
I would look to see if the paper tray's Dials are set to the correct paper size as the paper in the paper tray.. LTR size set to LTR or LTR-R set to LTR-R if the dial is set to the wrong size the copier will jam all the time. Due to a timing issue, the copier thinks it has one size, but actually is try to make a copy on different size... Good Luck
Try to reset your Lexmark X4650 settings to factory defaults. On the printer operator panel, press Setup -> select Defaults -> select Set Default -> select Use Factory -> press OK. Then try to make a copy again.
I hope this information has been helpful. Thanks.
Open the paper drawer
Remove the paper
There is a blue paper size plate, that keep the paper in the correct posision,Push it to the front and downwarts. The paper plate should come loose from the tray.Put it back in the openning for the A4.The openning for the A4 papersize is mark inside the paper tray.
Now set the blue papersize dail to A4 paper .
Then you are ready to copy with A4 paper.
Go to the Control Panel, open Printers and Faxes, right click on the icon for your Canon, choose Properties.
Since the offered settings can differ from one model to another, you may have to look at any tabs shown to find the default setting for paper type but it will probably be under 'Advanced.'
Check through the various settings and you should find settings influencing which paper size the printer should use and expect.
