I purchased a minolta X-9 at an antique store, it appears to be in very good condition. I replaced the 2 battries with Duracell 303/357 1.5v and listed on package was 303/SR44/SR47/A/J. The led lights in the view finder come on when pressing the shutter button part way down. I tried loading new film in the camera but was unable to advance the film using the lever, the lever moved the first 30 degrees, but would not move any farther. I removed the lens and found that the shutter was shut and won't open. According to the manual the shutter will close and not open when the battery power is low. I am wondering if I purchased the incorect battery. This same thing happen when I bought batteries at the grocery store for my mother inlaws earing aid, the hearing aid company said all batteries are not created equal. What could be the problem? Or should I send the camera in for service? What is your opinon?
-   I was given an XG-A but the shutter will not open like the XG-A. Are batteries necessary to operate the shutter? My old Chinon did not need batteries for the shutter operate. Its batteries were just for the sensor. I tried simulating the film rewinding into the film cartridge to see if that would allow the shutter to be freed up, but no go.-   Guest

Hi, I have Pentax ME wider II used with my Pentax Super program. During the dry test ( no film loaded, pressed the trigger button ) The winder made multiple exposures even it is set at "S" (= single exposure) which is supposed to fire only one exposure at the time. Is that mean the winder has problem or because of no film loaded. Thansk for your help Van
