You most likely have a capacitor or 2 that are bad and as long as it stayed plugged in they stayed charged, then when you unplugged it, they discharged and cannot charge back up. My recommendation is to take it in to a service center to have it repaired it should not cost much to repair. This is a common problem with this design of power supply. I see it every day.

TV in HDTV mode is blue screen. Menu will allow any choice but HDTV. Clicking on it means having to reset the TV by unplugging the power. Otherwise all menus and inputs work. At first I thought it was an antenna issue because reseating cable would fix the issue, but now it's all the time. Everything works but HDTV except occasionally it "just works".
